"I’ve reduced my ballet Othello which is two hours and change, to a symphony, to achieve symphonic purposes. Not a suite, not a narrative – a symphony. It’s 33 minutes long. Othello Symphony, I’m calling it. Liszt had a Faust Symphony, for example. And this way it can be programmed for a symphony hall, for symphony listening purposes." -EG-
Excelente aporte!
Thanks very much for sharing. Although I don’t like everything Goldenthal does (typically his modern action scores like SWAT or the funky stuff he does for Taymor’s films), he still one of my favorite composers. Wish he would do more film scores.
If anyone has this I would very much appreciate a re-up.
I thought this was not the Varese recording (which was a suite), but the full ballet. I would still love to get a link if anyone has it!
