Belive it or not, the 2013 awards season is drawing closer and closer – and with it, FYC promos. I have already grabbed a few online and have seen a few on eBay already. Within this thread, I will post any 2013 FYC score that I come across. Now I’m not sure how different everything will be from their OST counterparts, so I will post everything anyway. If anyone else grabs a hold of any of this season’s FYCs that are not already posted, please – feel free to share. Especially if you have something in FLAC, because some of what I have is only in 160k for right now. There’s nothing available for all 3 of the films that are up on Fox Searchlight’s FYC site. Rumor has it the FYC for 12 Years A Slave is 21 cues, which is very nice because all that exists for the public are those 2 cheesy cues on the OST. I have no doubt it’ll become one of the hotter FYCs this year, and it’ll go very high on eBay

Actually, did you ever have the courtesy to check out the tracks on the OST of Tim Fain, their Instrumentals, maybe not by Zimmer but he’s a very talented violinist I must say. Please listen to his tracks as well.

Check my screenshot I took of my computer screen. There is a menu on the left hand-side. And click under the score part. It should be available for all movies except for Man of Steel, and The Hobbit. Hopefully that clears things up for you, Jason? Just trying to help out, man!

Well I can tell you one thing – all of these short FYCs with 6/7 tracks? They’re not the full FYCs. Universal pulled this stunt last year with The Lorax, Snow White, Ted and This Is 40. On Their FYC page they had about 6 or 7 cues per score and look at what’s been found on eBay….Snow White is damn near complete. Ted is like 40 tracks. The Lorax and This Is 40, too. So the physical releases of all these short ones – Saving Mr. Banks, Oblivion, Rush, Despicable Me 2, and possibly even Spring Breakers – will all have more tracks. At least I’m praying that’s what happens. I’d love Oblivion and Spring Breakers

Yes. Although the iso score has been posted and I DO have it, I’d love to have the FYC on disc, especially if it’s complete. For some people it’s not about what’s already available, it’s about physically owning an FYC of their favorite score.

Well I can tell you one thing – all of these short FYCs with 6/7 tracks? They’re not the full FYCs. Universal pulled this stunt last year with The Lorax, Snow White, Ted and This Is 40. On Their FYC page they had about 6 or 7 cues per score and look at what’s been found on eBay….Snow White is damn near complete. Ted is like 40 tracks. The Lorax and This Is 40, too. So the physical releases of all these short ones – Saving Mr. Banks, Oblivion, Rush, Despicable Me 2, and possibly even Spring Breakers – will all have more tracks. At least I’m praying that’s what happens. I’d love Oblivion and Spring Breakers

Yes. Those are "preview" tracks. If you have an account, you can download all tracks, the whole album, in 1 zip file in flac or mp3. Presumably mp3 would be a bit rate of your choice, no way to know. I would assume also that the album downloads would be properly tagged with track names. Downloading the flv does not get you the names, you have to do each one individually by hand and that means matching up tracks.

What do you guys have against 12 Years? I love it. I’ll say it right now – if Hans is nominated, I want him to win. He only has 1 Academy Award, and that was back in 1995 for The Lion King. Every year he’s nominated he loses to someone else. I don’t think I’m in the minority when I say that Inception (his last nomination) should have won over The Social Network

Other than the Inception inspired cues, it’s very decent. I do think he should have won against The Social Network.

I agree, I’d rather see him (or Williams) win than some overhyped newcomers or one-trick ponies like Reznor&Ross, even though I don’t think 12 years is among year’s best. I like the theme in Solomon and that Washington cue is nice. So I’m rooting for Hans and believe that it would be a recognition for his whole work since 1994. Frickin’ Santaolalla won more Oscars than Hans! It’s time for a veteran to receive top honours again

Yes. A lot of the final score had contributions and collaborations with people like Lana del Rey, the xx etc. The score album is close to film versions, the FYC (sessions) stuff is Armstrong’s original recordings that were mixed together in the final film. Take a listen and compare Opening with Overture & Sanitarium for instance.

Yes, you are wrong.

The FYC (For Your Consideration) release means nothing more than it should be considered in nominating it for the Best Score. And from all the FYC releases out there, only 5 will be nominated for Best Score.

Ohh…Monsters Uv. Right. No, that’s not always the case. There’s an FYC for U2’s "The Hands That Built America" from Gangs of New York, but I don’t think there’s one for the score. Oh yes! That was indeed a surprise. Many nominations (Oscar) this year were surprising. Rush was snubbed in all the categories.

Tom Hanks was snubbed for Captain Philips, Emma Thompson was snubbed for Saving Mr. Banks, Oprah was snubbed for The Butler (thank God she was, I was hoping she wouldn’t get a nomination), Monsters University for Best Animated Feature (the first Pixar film to not get a nom for Animated Feature?) They only sent the Official Score for consideration I guess, kind of like what they did for Gravity. Except Gravity eventually got an FYC, hopefully Catching Fire will get one as well, finally. He deserves one. Maybe it won’t happen until Mockingjay..oh well.

I didn’t care for the film or the score. The only things I liked were the production design and costume design, in which it is nominated in both categories for an Academy Award
