The Mancini Touch (1959) – HENRY MANCINI – ALAC Lossless

From Allmusic: "The Mancini Touch is Henry Mancini’s combo of ‘modern jazz ideas’ with big-band swing. The result is a carefully arranged album on which the soloists occasionally improvise. Mancini wrote ‘Free and Easy’ for the Sal Mineo film ‘Rock, Pretty Baby,’ which speaks to his popular focus with jazz trappings. Some numbers are moody and not at all dance-oriented, such as ‘Snowfall,’ a meditation on acoustic guitar and vibes that grows into a subtle swell of soft strings and horns. "Bijou" is a whimsical piece that anticipates the sound of ‘Baby Elephant Walk’ and ‘The Pink Panther Theme.’"

Enjoy!

Hm, no cover?

The cover also is not included in the dl and the order of the tracks is completely screwed up.

The right order of the tracks is listed here:

http://www.amazon.de/Mancini-Touch-Henry/dp/B0000071V5/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1386698765&sr=1-1&keywords=Henry+Mancini+-+The+Mancini+Touch

And here’s the cover, that easyly can be put on this side:

RudiRe:

The order of the tracks is not "completely screwed up."
This CD is the American version. See: Amazon.com: The Mancini Touch: Music (http://www.amazon.com/The-Mancini-Touch-Henry/dp/B003JZEVLW)

Moreover, the picture is included. It’s embedded with the tracks.

Hm, that’s bizarre.

I’ve never seen it before, that the american pressing of a CD had a different order of tracks compared to the european pressing, but here it really seems to be the case. I wonder who and why anyone made that peculiar decision.

Yes, I realized that the cover is embedded within the tracks when I transcoded the mp4 tracks to mp3.
Yet when opening the download folder, I couldn’t see that. Anyway, I downloaded the cover from amazon for I’m resizing all my covers to a standard size of 300 x 300 pixels before embedding them into my mp3s. This way I can be sure all of my audio devices are able to display them.

I thought it was bizarre, too. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. At least the music’s the same. 😉

The funny thing is, that the European CD pressing came out first in 1996, followed by the American CD in 2000.

So I risk the guess, that someone in the US decided, that a CD can’t impossibly start with a track called 01. THAT’S ALL.

A track by that name could only wrap up the session as THE LAST TRACK number. That’s why it ended up as track # 12 in the American pressing.

This assumption implies, that most Europeans wouldn’t stumble upon the "miss-titling" anyway, for stupid as they are they don’t really understand English.

But that guessing doesn’t resolve the shunting of all the other titles.

Interestingly enough, the original american LP pressing had only 7 tracks in following order:

01. My One And Only Love
02. Trav`lin` Light
03. Snowfall
04. A Cool Shade Of Blue
05. Robbin`s Nest
06. Free And Easy
07. That`s All

The european LP pressing maintained that order.

So the tossing around of titles started with the CD editions.

I will enjoy it,cafegogo. And thank you very much for it.

I haven’t heard this album since I was a young boy, listening to it on my parents brand new Packard Bell TV/radio/record player stereo entertainment center. A very new concept in 1961. Some of these tracks made it on to the local radio stations, and that bring back memories thinking about also hearing them on the very few FM mono radio stations in our area.

These well preserved tracks sound as excellent today as back then.:awsm:

Here’s another Mancini title too good to lose. Cafegogo’s link is dead and even though this 96 mb link isn’t lossless,it’s in Mp3@320 and better than a sharp stick in the eye. Thanks to this gentleman for posting it in the first place.
