Symphonic Legends: Music From Nintendo featured music from StarFox, Super Mario Bros., F-Zero, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Pikmin, Super Mario Galaxy, and of course the very long Legend of Zelda Symphonic Poem (among the opening theme, solo, and encore). A sequel named LEGENDS Stockholm followed, and featured more Zelda music, plus a Kirby tgheme that failed to surface on the internet. As some may recall, the issue with releasing a CD was that there were many IPs, and they could not get licensing to them all.
The new concert focuses ENTIRELY ON THE ZELDA SERIES, which is why I am here. I grew to like the WDR4 Orchestra, but can deal with them not playing this one. This time, we get the LSO! I am unsure if a CD will be released, but hopefully we get a recording at least. It wouldn’t be the first time for Symphonic Legends, nor the first time for the Barbican Center, as seen with the decent recording of Final Symphony her on FFS.
This post needs editing, but see this link:
New Zelda orchestral concert Symphonic Legends is coming to London – Zelda Universe (http://www.zeldauniverse.net/zelda-news/new-orchestral-zelda-concert-symphonic-legends-is-coming-to-the-london/)
While I prefer Chad Seiter’s and Kousuke Yamashita’s arrangements, I love Jonne Valtonen’s and Roger Wanamo’s arrangements. I hope Arnie Roth conducts it. Thomas Bocker is also a very good exec producer, as seen in his previous installments in the VG Symphony series.
I am DEFINITELY buying this one!
EDIT: We currently have this: Symphonic Legends Music from the Legend of Zelda – July 13 2014 (http://www.mediafire.com/download/agl6qkqtszhvov6/Symphonic_Legends_Music_from_the_Legend_of_Zelda_-_July_13_2014.rar)
I must say’ I thought the concert would be much more spectacular, and have much more new content. The fact that it didn’t, can be seen as a good thing, as it isn’t much of a loss when taking into account what low quality audio was recorded.
Guess I’m not a true fan, then I would have known days maybe even weeks prior to the announcement.
Please, record it !
EDIT: The concert took end. If only someone had recorded it yesterday…
Sure hope so! I would love to hear this.
Unfortunately…I personally can’t help but feel disappointed about this one. Usually Merregnon Studios has a spot on record of making new arrangements for their shows (Symphonic Fantasies, the original Symphonic Legends, Final Symphony, Symphonic Selections), but it seems that they reused most of their previous Zelda arrangements.
They’ve included their Gerudo Valley arrangement and Wind Waker suite that they used last year for Symphonic Selections. Both were amazing, and were somewhat expected to be included.
However, the only truly new arrangement is "Skyward Sword Overture," a 20 minute symphonic movement through some of the most memorable themes in SS. It’s stunning, despite the fact that they sometimes used some questionable themes (for instance, the Romance themes used in the beginning of SS are used as the finale of this movement…for some reason).
The most disappointing part of the concert is their reuse of the "Symphonic Poem," which they used back four years ago for the original Symphonic Legends. It’s my personal opinion that it in no way really captures the essence of the Zelda series’ music, being far too dissonant and needlessly over-complicated. Even though they’ve changed it around and added some enjoyable moments, it’s still as disappointing as it was four years ago. They really should’ve made new music for the concert, or at least explored some other themes of the series.
Lastly…it seems they took some cues from Symphony of the Goddesses, (for instance, making the Dark World theme such an important moment in the Symphonic Poem…it even sounds similar to SotG’s arrangement), but I’ll leave that up for debate.
Here’s the link to the SS arrangement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj4VIO1EEv0
Lastly, I’m not entirely sure, but I think the setlist goes something like this:
1. Gerudo Valley
2. Skyward Sword Overture
3. The Wind Waker Concerto
4. The Legend of Zelda Symphonic Poem
Would love to know what you guys think. 🙂
Give us some MP3s, at least!

OH yeah one more question Is it possible to take the Youtube tracks, refine them a bit and make them into MP3s? At least, while we wait for more proper release.
If they released this as a CD or MP3, I would definitely support it.
As for the symphonic poem, I’m not a Zelda gamer at all and just a fan of Wanamo’s and Valtonen’s work, so I don’t know if it captures the spirit of Zelda. I really do love it as a musical piece, and I was amazed by the amount of revisions in this version (this is the second revision I think, after 2011). It’s really a much different work than four years ago and it shows how much work is put in it to improve on it. I found the new light spirit section mind-blowing!
1. Fanfare for the Common 8-but Hero
2. Skyward Sword Overture
3. The Wind Waker Concerto
4. Gerudo Valley
intermission
5. The Legend of Zelda Symphonic Poem
For me the concert was absolutely magnificent. I suppose I don’t need to mention that YT recordings quality is extremely poor, but nevertheless you should realize what great effort has been put into these arrangements.
There won’t be any CD release.
I downloaded 256kbps .m4a versions of the 4 videos that batatshi posted about with JDownloader before they were deleted. I’m working on getting them uploaded to Mediafire to share on here, so hang tight folks.
Well, JDownloader 2 creates .m4a audio files that are labelled as 256kbps. Whether they truly are that quality or not, the audio files’ sizes are definitely larger than the typical .mp3 files you’d get from other YouTube ripping websites/add-ons. In any case, the four tracks I’m uploading to Mediafire will be better than having nothing at the moment. You mentioned that you know the YouTube user’s profiles name, can you tell me it? I subscribed to him last week, but I have so many subscriptions and can’t remember the name.
Ok, here’s the link to download the audio rips of the 4 Symphonic Legends: Music from The Legend of Zelda Series videos that were recently taken down from YouTube. The videos didn’t have any actual video footage of the concert, just audio with a static image, so I only downloaded the audio track with JDownloader. Hopefully we can get a better recording of this concert or preferably a proper release of it in the future. Enjoy!

Maybe he should.
Could have been for Final Symphony, Symphonic Selections, or for Symphonic Legends.
I would bet on Final Symphony, if a CD release on something would ever happen. The Merregon Team has a good relationship with Square. After all, Symphonic Fantasies was a huge success. And Square publishes a lot of albums.
The Nintendo concert Symphonic Legends / LEGENDS never got a CD release, because of Nintendo. I think Thomas said so himself. But one can be hopeful that Thomas tries to get a CD release for Symphonic Legends precisely because it’s so rare for Nintendo to publish albums. That would be a huge step.
I think WDR has been doing kind of their own thing since 2012, with East meets West and Symphonic Selections. I’m not sure, but it feels like they decide things for themselves and maybe bring in Thomas for consultation. I don’t know, I wouldn’t bet on a CD release from them.
That’s what arrangers told us in a pre-talk before the concert :(.
Btw., there is going to be another concert in London next year (written in the program of the event).
Nope, haven’t heard anything. I think Thomas revealed or hinted at a Final Symphony CD a while ago. If that’s happening I don’t think we’ll see a Symphonic Legends CD for some time.
