Song of the Lonely Mountain (Film Version) Corrected Stereo [FLAC 24/48]

I feel that this deserves its own thread due to the fact that this is not just a stereo mixdown, but a stereo correction and deserves explanation.

Song of the Lonely Mountain (Film Version) is now available in Stereo 24/48 FLAC AND 16/44 WAV for regular listening/burning to a CD.

I did this because I noticed that if you straight mix down the 7.1 song to stereo, you get some odd sounds (like a slightly tinny sound) from the rear channels being mixed in an odd fashion from the rest of the channels (sound mixers fault). That is why if you watch AUJ on a stereo sound system, there are some weird harmonic echo effects from the rear channels being mixed oddly, along with the tinny ring, when mixed down to stereo.

Here’s a folder that contains the first 16 seconds of My Dear Frodo ripped from the beginning of AUJ, one version sounds tinny while the other sound full and clean after correcting it:

Obviously, this is because the sound designer for the film did not keep in mind that people might mix the film down to stereo for watching on a TV’s built in speakers or something of that nature.

This stereo mix corrects the sound anomaly so that the song is much more pleasing to the ear.

How did you fix the sound.

I lowered the rear two channels by 75% since the tinny reverb was coming from those channels when they clashed with the other 4 channels and then tweaked the channel volumes of the sides and fronts to balance out correctly so the vocals sounded correct in the mix.
