When IMAGE COMICS first came on the scene, many of the new titles were typical superhero stuff. SPAWN. YOUNGBLOOD. But one comic surprised everyone: Sam Keith’s THE MAXX. It was a surreal book about a homeless, purple-suited hero who went back and forth between our world and the mysterious OUTBACK, a strange Seuss-ian version of Australia. The only link between the two worlds was MAXX himself and his social worker JULIE. And somewhere in the middle, the evil MR GONE.
Comic book making at its finest, the first three issues still hold up as a modern classic. Sam Keith commissioned a Texas based audio company called ANIMATED ALLIGATOR to record an audio dramatization of the first three issues. Available only as a limited offer, readers could cut out a coupon (photocopies not accepted!) from the comic and send away for this unique experience.
This transfer is very special. I hope you enjoy it. It is from a pristine, never before played cassette. I loaded it onto my computer using pro-sumer grade cassette digitization hardware/software. I then ran it through a basic cleaner to remove any hiss (I didn’t go overboard, as I hate sound compression artifacts). I’ve also included scans of the liner notes/cover to the cassette.
EDIT: This is meant to be read along with the first three issues (which are currently being re-released and remastered by IDW).
My first upload! Hope you enjoy it!

Edit: Hmmmm… It looks like the file Maxximum Sound Side MA.flac has a size of zero, so no audio. 🙁
