I’m probably throwing my hand at the fine art of shark jumping with this one; what with how new the console is, and that the game is only coming out tomorrow. but still, if anyone here is planning on some kind of rip of the new Killer Instinct, that would be awesome.

Very good, this is great quality. It’s missing the character select theme, though. However, aside from that it’s good. FFShrine never lets you down for soundtracks.

They really need to release a true OST though. I wrote to Mick Gordon on Twitter about it and he said they’re "trying". I hope this happens, as it can’t take much effort to release a digital download from these songs.

Got hang of great remixes and dynamic themes from youtube, make sure that anyone who rips does all the track variations. It changes if you are standing idle or doing high or low action.

Also youtube dont have full/extended character select theme, if anyone can do that , thanks.

I included an edited version of the theme from the first sample suite by Mick Gordon as it’s different than the one heard in the game and imo it’s better (and also has the character select theme mixed into it so it’s amazing). Everything’s from Youtube so the quality is not excellent, however I tried to find the best possible quality rips.

Thanks but the orchid theme is missing the main chorus from KI version. They redid it in the new version as well.

I would love someone to do a proper gamerip recording with full dynamic themes. sadly the ones on youtube are incomplete or are edited badly.

I’m starting to fear an official soundtrack won’t happen now. I haven’t heard much, and the game’s hype is coming to a close.

As a fan, they did not even cared to make a popper sequel to the original game. This is how to make fans angry. The main theme is horrible. I need to wash my ears with the original killer instinct soundtracks, and wash my eyes with the original games.

I disagree very strongly. Visually the game isn’t as good as the original series, but the original series was very 90’s and they were appropriately modernizing it; if they did a 90’s style now it would be very much a retro-style game, whereas they were trying to keep it in tune with the current comic book style which is in the spirit of the original games as they did the same thing for their time period. I don’t like the modern comic book style so much, but that’s a matter of personal preference. Spinal and Fulgore have very traditional designs that are true to the original, whereas I think Orchid’s is an especially good design and I’m also fond of Thunder and Glacius. I think they’re good designs considering the modernization of the style, at any rate.

More on-topic with the music… honestly I feel it’s fairly true to the original in the same way. Obviously there’s a big style shift for a lot of the tracks — primarily they’ve replaced all the pop-like stuff with dubstep (but it’s good dubstep) — but it’s a pretty similar case as with the visuals; it’s shifting to the most popular high-energy music at the time. The dubstep themes that appear in the game are still very true to their originals, like how Orchid’s is still fairly poppy and with a strong vibe of "girl power", or how Glacius’s is grim and intimidating.

The rest of the tracks are here and there — I hate Sabrewulf’s theme but love Jago’s and Thunder’s — but I fail to see how any of them are really some ear-rape violation of what Killer Instinct should be. The main theme is almost exactly the same apart from sounding more metal than the previous two versions of the theme, and most of the tracks have an awesome tempo for a fighting game. Your comment about the samples of the original songs "not making them good" is irrelevant; they aren’t even PART of the main song but rather parts of the track that pick up if you’re idle for a moment (which will then run through before returning to the normal theme while fighting); they’re easter eggs at best… although in Thunder’s and Glacius’ cases, the bits from their original themes are heavily remixed and amazing parts of the song. The idle section of Thunder’s music actually brings a tear to my eye it’s so beautiful.

My understanding is Double Helix will release a soundtrack cd and download after Season 2 (due summer 2014) has been released.

Um, the Main Menu and B. Orchid themes won’t let me add any metadata, such as artist names or album information. They play just fine, but still, any idea why?

An interesting comparison is Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, where a lot of the themes contained techno/rock variations, as opposed to the the two previous games’ jazzier music. Overall, I think the variations work way better since, as you said, they’re highly energetic yet match the characters.

Just hope we get to hear Fulgore’s theme soon.

Thank you VERY much for finding all of this, it’s pretty fantastic to hear even though I never was a Killer Instinct fan so my opinion may not be much on this. But this IS from the same composer of Wolfenstein TNO so I expected to enjoy his sound and goddamn I sure did. Thanks again for this, I have to say you did some good finds for Youtube rips, did you do any alterations to them after downloading from Youtube or so?
