John Carpenter’s "Halloween" [35th Anniversary Mondo LP] (FLAC, 32-bit/96kHz)

Finally received my copy in the mail today. Unfortunately, mine was the Black LP and not Orange (random copies were packed with Orange LPs), but there’s still hope for the one I ordered off eBay. As soon as I opened this, I cleaned it off, layed it down, and hit record. It was my first time playing it, and the first time is always the cleanest. It sounds great, I’m so happy to own this. There is word going around that this is identical to the 20th Anniversary Edition, which I’m told is a re-recording. I watched the film on Halloween night (27 days ago), and to me, it all sounds identical. I don’t think that Mondo would rip us off like that. But I’m no expert, so if there are any official Halloween experts out there (I’m talking to you, John Carpenter!), please weigh in on this. Last but not least, everybody enjoy this as much as I do 🙂

Been doing some reading and it seems both CDs are re-recordings, but the 20th Anniversary one comes closest to what’s heard in the film

This is totally cool. I mean TOTALLY! I went to see this movie on Halloween night 1978. It was one of the most frighteningly exciting movies I’d ever seen up to that point. The entire audience was screaming, and we had Michael Myers creeping around the theater in the dark. T-shirts, soundtracks, books, rubber knives, masks, photos & all other kinds of memorabilia were given out in gift bags. It was amazing, and unforgettable. To date, this is my #1 all time favorite horror movie. Every new DVD version that comes out, I buy it. Latest count, 9 different DVD’s including a British tin box limited edition #19/4000.

MAYBE I’ll rip the new 40th Anniversary Mondo release…..apparently it’s taken from the film stems and thus the score plays on vinyl as it’s heard in the film. MAYBE.

The Mondo 40th Anniversary release does contain the actual music heard in the film. I received my copy yesterday and finally had a chance to listen to it today. It’s exactly what you hear in the film, just in mono. It definitely is the complete score. Definitely worth an upload. I’ll try and see if I can upload it in the next week.

Fuck me, is it really? Shit. My copy should be here Tuesday. I’ll bet it doesn’t conatin the stingers, though. There’s quite a few….

It does contain the stingers

It contains every piece of music in the film including the stingers. It’s literally like an isolated score. The only drawback is they were only able to get the mono music tracks. It’s the same audio track that’s on the blu-ray release when you select the mono audio track. The quality however is as good as we’re ever going to get with mono releases, and condisering the age of the music track it’s definitely good quality.
