The first hunger games is one of JNH best scores, but Catching Fire will be great, i believe.

Gonna skip on listening to the samples. Want this to be completely fresh when it leaks. But I am extremely excited. JNH is perhaps a top 3 favourite artist of mine, so I’ll download anything of his.

You can notice that JNH had much more time than the first one that was done in just 3 weeks. You can hear the themes from the first one much more developed (the guitar solo from The Cave is now a love theme for Katniss and Peeta, the 6 notes motif for the Hunger Games is much more present, a clip of the film had a 4 notes motif from The Cave and Muttations in the background, the Second Shot Better/Night Train synth motif is used in strings), the electronics are much more well used and mixed, the choir is actually present (compare on how it was mixed in both versions of Rue’s Farewell and The Train). T

Like I predicted it since the first film came out, musically this is for The Hunger Games saga what Bourne Supremacy was for the Bourne saga, a musical development of the foundations of the first score into a much more extensive scope. And the best thing, the whole CD is 75 minutes long! The longest release for a JNH score since King Kong.

Just watched the film and wow, I’d say 80% of the score in the film are direct tracks from THG’s or renditions, which is great.

I’m interested to see if this release is complete… and if not close to complete.

The recording sessions from THG is 1:37:08 (that’s including the 1:11:09 of JNH score + 14:51 of source music + the 5 second Mockingjay call track I threw in my listing + 11:04 of credits music)
THG is 2:22:32 long… which means 68% of it has score/music

The score release for CF is 1:15:01 that plus roughly 16 minutes from the OST songs is roughly 1 hr & 32 minutes of score/music
CF is 2 hours and 26 minutes long, means 63% of it has score/music

So it may be a complete score release. *fingers crossed*

Just got out of the movie about an hour ago. WOW. Way better than The Hunger Games – both film and score. I don’t recall a film score ever standing out to me as much when a.) seeing a film in theatres (where so much attention is needed on what is actually going on) and b.) seeing a film for the first time. While there are a lot of themes reused (which I love), there is plenty of new material. There is an awesome cue heard in the opening scene which plays a few times (this is a new theme). And many of you will be happy to know the cue heard in the beginning of the final trailer (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – EXCLUSIVE Final Trailer – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoKj7TdJk98)) is included in the film (fingers crossed it made it to the OST!!!)

I didn’t really enjoy the film because I’m not much of a fan, but the music that plays during that scene at the District where the poor black guy gets dragged away and executed is phenomenal.
