I think Giacchino has moved beyond game scoring. He can keep up with the pace and movement of the film with his cues and clearly the people who hire him would agree.

I think it does work apart from the film as it is just about the only thing I remember from the film. I happened to find the film average with a few shiny moments which stood out, but the score is the highlight here and I’m happy to have about as much music from it as I can get!

Complete FIXED tracklisting : WIP

I have a question about most recording session releases. Why does it seem like the volume is always lower when compared to the OSTs of the same film? It happens with a lot of recording session leaks, not all but many. Just wondering why?

I’m not criticizing this release, I’m very thankful for it, just a question I have always wondered about. I tend to continue to listen to the OSTs most of the time, especially in a car, because of the volume difference. I’ve tried using something like audacity to raise the volume but I never seem to get it right. I’m just not that talented when it comes to music editing.

I hope one of are masters of remasters, like SonicAdventure and others, take this one and create a deluxe edition.

That�s because they are Mixes…. normally these aren�t Mastered

That’s your problem right there. Audacity sucks major balls at trying to raise the volume. I used to use it, but that was before I got my Mac that came with Audition pre-installed. Audition is a great program, it’s what I use for my vinyl rips (I have to use Audacity to record, unfortunately). But I’m told it’s a very expensive program, so if you don’t have it nor the funds, I guess Audacity is what you’re stuck with

A perfect example of this would be the Blu-ray iso score for Oblivion. It sounded terribly low compared to the OST, because the OST was mastered and the iso wasn’t. So I imported each track into Audition and tweaked the decibel level where it needed tweaking. Now it sounds better than ever

Utterly amazing! This was one of my all time wants for a recording session. One of the best scores of the the last few years and the movie surprised me. So much negativity surrounding it, but I loved it. After listening to it for a year I just ordered the original score a few days ago with the new Making of Return of the Jedi book. Good karma I guess!

I loved this film. Something went very wrong that it failed. Disney did nothing to hurt it as far as advertising. Show me any GEEK/NERD who wasn’t aware of this one coming down the road and they’d have to be down at the water pump with Annie Sullivan. Most critics hated it. The names were as confusing as LOTR and so multiple viewings were needed. Possibly simplifying the dialogue might have helped. Don’t know. The director was new at this live action stuff and spent money like crazy in reshoots- which probably did not help. Calling it John Carter Of Mars would have made little difference. In the long run, this was a damn fun movie and you had to give it some attention… and audiences of today do NOT LIKE DOING THAT. It is sad that it bombed and we won’t see these characters/actors again… specifically the princess who was the most fascinating character out of the whole gang. Her theme is especially lovely.

The tracklist on the artwork matches the download that started this post. I didn’t create that list, but I did follow it. Frankly, I didn’t see much point in creating a tray liner with a tracklisting that was different than what people were going to download.

It’s still not complete though, even with the CD tracks (which have edits). "A Thern Warning" in particular is over seven minutes long in the movie and an important action sequence is chopped out of the CD track. That’s the bit I really wanted to hear and it’s disappointing that it’s not here (although I do appreciate what we did get, of course).
