So I try using CUETools, no dice. I try Foobar2000, no dice either. Is there a specific software or plugin that I need?

i have used dbpoweramp with .tak plugin.
can convert for flac, edit cue file to change .tak to .flac, and then extract with cuetools if one large music file.

You need the .tak component to make it work in foobar. foobar2000: Components Repository – TAK Decoder (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_tak)

For Foobar2000, you need the TAK decoder plugin (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_tak).
Why don’t you browse the component page for other plugins you might need.
APE needs a plugin, too.
