Thank you, my friend.
Oh, and thanks again, The 10th! (I want another "like" ;))
I agree, that artwork is definitely much better…
Beltrami goes gargantuanly gothic at times here and I won’t deny it’s highly enjoyable in its own (very well orchestrated as always) way, but lost in all the monumentalism is the crux of the story: it’s a tragedy. Of course, for all I know, this remake may have offered Beltrami nothing more to work with than pouty teenage angst and lots, and lots of CGI blood.
But it’s an entertaining horror score listen, just not one that’s going to linger in one’s memory 37 years later like Donaggio’s score does.

I have a feeling this remake is only going to reach the youngin’s.
I think the overall theme from the original is going to be too overshadowed by all the cheap, tacky teen flicks coming out where everyone has super powers and can pretty much be like Superman.
Pouty teenage angst sounds like it’s the direction it’s oriented at.
I can see some of the story actually having significance trying to reach a certain audience but only to a limited extent.
The whole theme of being an outcast and picked on seems like it’s going to go by like any other teenage film.
I have very strong feelings for Julianne Moore. I think she will be a very good point in the film to praise.
I’m certain the revamped score will hold up well in several scenes.
I mean, we all watched the remake to The Omen and can certainly say the score really help the picture together.
It was probably the only thing that did, aside from the creepy, cloak and skull nightmares.
I can’t believe it’s been that long!!! 37 years. I’m not that old. This was before my time but my mom certainly went to the cinemas to watch it.
And when I was old enough (8? 9?) she introduced the film to me.
Man, I need to see what they did to this on blu-ray. Last time I watched it was on VHS.
The Rage: Carrie 2?

thanks for the share, btw. lol
Haha, finding an online stream of it… I can remember my mom fast forwarding the opening titles.
We really wanted to get the good part where she kills everyone.
A Beltrami score is always appreciated.

I have not gotten the chance to listen to Donaggio’s score but I have to agree with you all the same. This is a good soundtrack – a very good possibly – but it is not a great one, and it certainly won’t be a genre defining contribution. Beltrami does give us a much more recognizable and distinct contribution amongst his mass of horror scores, though. Going into this I was afraid this was going to be another "Thing", which cues hardly unrecognizable and indistinct from each other. Glad I was proven wrong.
Really? Even when distinctive elements from The Thing (and Knowing) show up here in Carrie? (I’m very much attracted by the orchestral flourishes and Goldsmith rhythmic influences in The Thing; that, and he really struck an appropriate mood for the setting).
I honestly couldn’t tell because there was not a single cue from The Thing that I could remember. It all blended together – and not in the good way.
That’s hard to fathom. Have you played the soundtrack more than once? Because "Meet and Greet" and "How Did You Know?" are as wide apart on the tonal spectrum as A is from Z.
A pity.
And any new Beltrami is always a nice welcome so thank you The 10th for releasing this score out of your sonic screwdriver .
Ps: have you already seen the new doctor in town ?

Flac would’ve been nice, but thanks for this!
FLAC would be nice, but unfortunately Amazon US only offers the mp3 version.

Sorry, but those were posted on Beltrami’s site for along time ago, and as usual all cues we’re posted there with slates.
The original will always be a classic but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying this sequel on it’s own. I thought it was cool enough that they give Carrie some time to practice her power before the grand finale. A few more twists to the story that makes it cooler I think. And of course the special fx it’s good! Overall it’s a good remake worth watching whenever you feel like to.
