Boston Public

Hello! I’m looking for a score from an old TV show named Boston Public. Now, I’ve read that the show’s main theme was composed by Thomas Newman, but I don’t know if he did any additional work there or if any more or less official score even exists (I suppose much of the music there were just songs), but I’d be grateful for any help in my search. Thanks in advance.

Boston Public was one of my favorite shows and then Fox basically just let it die slowly before cancelling it.

Thomas Newman did indeed write the main title theme but Danny Lux scored the episodes themselves. No official recordings exist let alone unofficial score.

I have the main theme somewhere, I’ll see if I can pull it up.

Yeah, I know; what Fox did with that show was an outrage. Too bad about the score, but if you do have at least the main theme, I certainly won’t say "no" to that. And thank you.

I have the extended main theme that was for sale on itunes @ 320. As for the score itself, no samples on Lux’s web-site and I have seen no promos etc. in a couple years of searching, sorry.

You sure that was on iTunes?

The quality sounds exactly like a rip and is looped. Doesn’t sound like something that would officially be released on the iTunes store but something homemade.

Doesn’t matter in the end it’s just an obscure short piece. Thanks for uploading it nonetheless.

I actually think it was amazon. Yes, it was sold, I bought it, without a trace and criminal minds. Yes, this is looped, but is structurally somewhat extended from the piece that aired. Criminal minds also is a bit more varied, however without a trace ids a straight up loop that gets annoying the third time into the theme….:(

That said, they are not "official" in that none of them ever aired an extended theme, and since no score has ever been released, no album version either. Eo at best they are covers. They were like a buck and the sound for Boston is still miles above rips I have heard. Though that was before I could rip streaming audio. If eps are streamed at netflix or hulu, I could grab the original along with end titles…

My file sounds better than that extended and does include the end titles, which is just a shorter edit of the main title. Try it out. 🙂
