He’s actually a musician under his alias Junkie XL. He’s a trance/electronica artist who released several albums prior to his first scoring job on the Dead or Alive live action adaptation. The score was actually pretty good.
You might remember the remix of "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley vs JXL (got it?) which was a massive hit some 10 years ago.

I guess he works with the Hans Zimmer posse because that’s pretty much the easiest way to get into the business.
