Plus many of the tracks in the film feature different mixes. The ‘flight’ cue in particular had some prominent string work over the top that is missing from the album version.
I guess Hans was tweaking right up until the last moment.
Also like the cue where Kal saves Lois in the falling escape pod – also missing from the album.
Anyway would love to see this surface, but I’m guessing it’ll appear sometime after the DVD/BD release?
Yeah that’s definitely a possibility. I hope not though.
It seems to be increasingly common to have mixes go off for OST mastering before the score is even finalised – obviously these are big deadlines they’re trying to hit.
Terminator Salvation was the most obvious to me. After the score had been delivered for the OST, the producers saw a screening and requested that the Terminator percussive theme to be added to the film mix. You can hear in the sessions the hasty cut and paste job that was performed by Elfman’s mixing engineer to get that theme in there. It reeks of last minute alterations.
Anyway, the final Salvation mixes surfaced, so i’m keeping my fingers crossed that the final MOS session mixes will appear. They are definitely superior to what was on CD.
There hasn’t been any sign of them, unfortunately 🙁
Damn shame! Thought there might’ve been something by now, as the Inception sessions emerged after a period of time. Maybe someone is hoarding it haha.
That was a period of years after the film had its theatrical run… it’s not even been two years since Man of Steel’s.
Just be patient. I’m sure they’ll show up sooner or later.
Well, it’s true. There’s nothing you can do to make the sessions leak faster… you’ve just got to wait and hope for a little luck.
