Note: ripped from my own copy of the vinyl and edited to remove pops, clicks and crackling with Magix Cleaning Lab.
That’s a tough call. I compared this vinyl rip with the Varese album that had the same contents and both showcased their own distinguishing factors that made them both worth having: CD for cleaner sound, vinyl for warmer sound.
Unfortunately, the CD sounds a bit more detailed than this rip but the lack of some detail from this vinyl rip I suspect has primarily to do with my equipment and the age of the vinyl. It’s hard to find a brand new sealed copy so this is the best that’s gonna come around for possibly a long time.
Luckily, for a 36 year old pressing I was pleasantly surprised at the lower amount of pop, clicks and crackling when I was capturing this. Whoever owned it before me took good care of it. Same with Koyaanisqatsi.
For me, Koyaanisqatsi is one of the few (if not the only) OST that doesn’t actually works outside the film itself, so I don’t have any version of it.
I recently obtained the HDAD of Close Encounters, but as phbart says, there’s very little (if anything) to distinguish it from the CD. Likewise with A.I. which I posted mainly for those interested in the surround mix.
You need Google Chrome for it to work.
re-up needed. thanks.
