try this one and tell what you think.
1.01 – Glamdring.rar (http://www.sendspace.com/file/m1cdll)
Glamdring from your last post is fine though.
Foobar? MPC-HC?
Are you hooked up digitally to a surround sound receiver?
If analog (headphone jack), do you at least enable Dolby Pro Logic 1/2 to let the surround sound receiver recover the surround sound channels from the DPL downmix?
Are playing from an external media device directly to the surround sound receiver?
Do you have any DSP’s enabled (in Foobar, FFDShow, soundcard settings)?
The Two Towers test.rar (http://www.sendspace.com/file/6kcmg0)
What encoder did you use?
now i use WAV to AC3 Encoder 5.0

Oh, and before I forget it, there is proof it isn’t Specre’s fault: the first souce cue of Fellowship does not have this problem, so it’s probably just the dvd release.
———- Post added at 11:11 AM ———- Previous post was at 11:08 AM ———-
try these and if their both ok it’s the encoder, if only one’s ok it’s a phase sync problem. i suspect it’s the original encoder i used.

Yeah, that sound alright.

Yay, so I just wasted a lot of gigabytes… But I don’t get it, why would anyone ther to convert high resolution audio to AC3? Several websites claim there already IS AC3 present on those dvds, so why not just rip that?
bollemanneke
I don’t have the Disc’s, just the lossless files. Someone could rip those AC3’s and post them, but i suspect they don’t want to deal with the size factor.
I’m sorry the old encoder did’nt do the job well and i have to re-encode these. I don’t have a way to test the rear channels of an ac3 at the moment,
flac and waves i can test ok because i can load them in adobe Cloud and listen to the individual channels. When i do the Pro Logic encoding i can listen
to the channels before and after the mix with my headphones with and without each channel. Someone asked how was i testing these or other people
listening to these multi-channel files? Again I feel bad and somewhat embaraced for these because i don’t like sub-standard files and sure wouldn’t
post them if i thought they were, so, sorry about that.

Yeah, that sound alright.
OK, well i’m going to take that as an ok to re-encode these and re-post them.
I’ll re-up these tonight and post them by tomorrow.
pjmontana
You are very welcome. As far as the DTS, I encoded all in DTS not Pro Logic. I use a different process for each, so not sure why it’s showing as Pro Logic.
Unless it happened when processing them for CD. Glad they sound ok though, and Thanks for the feedback. Maybe you can share with us why that happened
if the chance arises.
"Dolby Pro Logic" is a DSP effect that creates a fake surround sound environment from a stereo source.
When you have a multichannel audio file and want to downmix it to stereo (and recover some of the original surround sound environment), you can use different coefficients to downmix to stereo.
Your DPL decoder will read it with a degree of efficiency and replicate the original surround sound.
Let’s look at the two ways to down mix a 5.0 or 5.1 multichannel file to stereo (simple stereo or DPL stereo)…
Soure: 3/2 or 3/2.1
Downmix: Stereo
FL’ =
FL
+ 0.7071 x FC
+ BL
FR’ =
FR
+ 0.7071 x FC
+ BR
Downmix: Dpl
FL’ =
FL
+ 0.7071 x FC
+ 0.8660 x BL
+ 0.5000 x BR
FR’ =
FR
+ 0.7071 x FC
– 0.5000 x BL
– 0.8660 x BR
You can see hat for DPL, the channels are given different volume levels for each.
Your DPL decoder will detect this and do its best to recreate 5.0/5.1.
You’ll also notice the lack of the LFE channel.
It’s not recommended to downmix with the LFE channel included.
This may or may not cause artifacts in the final audio, regardless if you have full-range speakers capable of playing back LFE.
The artifacts will be in the audio itself and not a problem due to speakers or setup.
It’s a gamble whether or not artifacts are introduced during downmix.
Did the program convert to a regular CD or a DTS-CD (or SACD)?
Currently multichannel CD’s (up to 6.1 (L, R,C,LFE,Ls,Rs,Cs)) are only available in SACD (Super Audio CD), DSD (Digital Something Disc), and DTS-CD (DTS CD) formats.
I suspect your program converted to a regular CD with "Dolby Pro Logic" downmixing.
(5.1 downmixed to 2.0 with different coefficients than standard stereo coefficients.)
With Dolby Pro Logic I or II (DPLI/II; each have different coefficients for downmixing), you get a 2.0 audio stream.
Your digital receiver will use the DPL matrix to bring back the 5.1 from the 2.0 audio.
You may lose the discreetness of the original mix. Or not. I’m not sure. I don’t DPL much.
Actually… Looking at the site…
Looks like it doesn’t create multichannel CD’s.
So your setup is currently playing back the downmixed (simple stereo downmix) CD and your receiver is automatically enabling the DPL matrix engine to create a pseudo-5.1 surround sound environment.
If you really want it on CD with multichannel, try something like Minnetonka Audio Software’s DTS-CD encoder.
OR!!! try find a program that will burn the AC3 audio to DVD with blank video (or pictures).
Since the AC3 Spectre provided is already DVD-compliant (448kbps; the maximum bitrate for DVD…in AC3 format. DVD can support DTS of 1536kbps or some junk, albeit in lossy DTS format — or even LPCM format, albeit your player-to-receiver setup must support HDMI output for proper 5.1 PCM playback…).
I would try to find a program to burn audio to a DVD with blank video will be best option since you don’t have to convert it again.
There should be some out there now. I never got around to exploring that option.
you mentioned 2.0 versions you had were missing and you could mix down a copy. I loaded a 5.1 Flac into my Audition CC and all channels show. If you have the lossless
versions you could easily do that, would just take a little while. The main front tracks should be all you need for stereo but i guess you could do a mixdown too. I probibly wouldn’t.

No, you would need to downmix the 5.1 to 2.0.
Using just the front L+R channels will be incomplete audio.
There is some instrument discretion in the surround sound, not a lot.
What ever will be missing from the other channels will be echoed in the present channels.
To have a 2.0 mix, you must downmix from 5.1.
or find any existing 2.0 that’s naturally 2.0.
I could create a 2.0 mix in 48kHz/24bit.
Would supersede any 44.1kHz/16bit for anyone who wants to do any editing of their own.
eac3to could easily downmix to stereo.
Even a batch script would work too since there isn’t a lot of fancy editing to do.
bishtyboshty might remember where they are.
:this: he’ll surely know.
i think for me, the 2.0 I had is probably just the cover album someone did.
What’s his famous-face everyone wants…
did some fancy art work for it too…
I know Faleel did an MP3/2.0 mix of the albums.
Because none of us have the original DVD-A’s to work with.
All we have is the 5.1 FLAC.
:smrt:
And it was answered earlier too that no one has the DVD-A.
Though the ones who actually do, aren’t nice people to actually want to rip the stereo version for anyone.
It’s like asking Saruman to keep the bloody doors open on a hot summer day. (http://youtu.be/BhJWjsHoCXw?t=5s)
The regular CD’s were kindly posted (Thread 133674) by OscarRomelPR not so long ago…
Cool!
Thank you very much for all your efforts, my friend!
i came across several threads about the lord of the rings complete recordings.
Today, i’m still searching for a ISO copy of the DVD’s Hi Res Audio ( DVD AUDIO) of the 3 movies
I was hoping someone had the original boxsets and could upload the dvds.
I’b buy the boxet if it was affordable these days !
Thank you anyway for all the work you’ve done so far.

Poor Bilbo 🙁
when I uncompress the Return of the King, 53. Bilbo’s Ring is found corrupted. I would like to know if others also encounter this issue? Thank you
I just downloaded it and got the same message, although the track title is "Bilbo’s Song"… perhaps a freudian slip ?.
It seems to play fine.
It seems to play fine.
Yes, the track should be "Bilbo’s Song". May I know which tools you have used for the decompressing? I can never have the track done. Thank you.
First of all, I use a Mac Mini, as opposed to a p.c.
With Unarchiver and RAR Expander the track generated the message, but allows you to continue, and retains the track.
With Keka, Stuffit Expander and Zipeg the decompression drops that track.
Keka then continues after the track. Stuffit Expander and Zipeg do not continue after the track.
Can you tell me which file is corrupt?
Can you tell me which file is corrupt?
No.
Can you tell me which file is corrupt?
Bilbo’s Song.
Download LameXP… (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lamexp/)Install and set options for CBR 320…drag and drop FLAC files into box and watch how fast it converts them for you. 😉
Can you reupload Part 4, please?
Just as short and sweet. :smrt:
thanks
