Doublehex’s World of Warcraft Expansion Rips (to those who have it, please help)

A couple years back, a patient, creative, and clever user on this site called Doublehex (http://forums.ffshrine.org/members/doublehex-56014) made a bunch of phenomenally well-organized soundtrack rips of the World of Warcraft expansion packs. They were everything that the fans of the game and its music wanted from the substandard OSTs that Blizzard released.

Of course, the music was excellent. What made the OSTs substandard was the fact that the official soundtracks that Blizzard put onto CDs contained between 11 and 20 pieces of music, while Doublehex’s rips contained over 100 for the base expansion packs as well as a number of others for each of their updates. They put the tiny collections provided by Blizzard to shame.
Not only did he organize the music in a beautiful manner, he went one step further and made his own cover art by editing the official artwork.
He sort of did for the WoW OSTs what the enigmatic ripper known as Prime Blue did to a number of Metroid OSTs as well as the well-known but heavily flawed Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess rip attempt that can still be found on our site’s Galbadia Hotel. But I digress:

Doublehex uploaded his rips to peejeeshare and so the story stands.

But as everyone on this site probably knows, peejeeshare no longer works, and Doublehex either can’t or won’t reupload his fantastic collections. Which is nothing short of a tragedy.

This is a message and a request to anyone on this site who successfully downloaded his rips before they went down. If you have them, you will be doing a great service to this site by uploading them so that they can be available to people once again. So please upload them to the site if you have them.

I’ve got everything but BC from Gamefront. Gonna toss em up on Mediafire. Will take a bit but I’ll post the folder in just a moment when I get the rar’s split up and setup. If someone can reup BC that would be great. I can throw it on Mediafire after.

I got really annoyed by the fact that the album art for all these are insanely stretched just to fit 1000×1000 res, so I’m providing some redone alternatives. These are only 600×600 but they’re straight cropped from the original artwork with the Blizzard websites nicely cut out patch logos (which is the reason for the smaller resolution, although, most of the images didn’t give me much play to work with so its a pretty good size considering the source artwork). I used the same font that DoubleHex did for these (Trajan Pro Bold).

Artwork for these releases are done. Also, I’ll be making artwork for Vanilla and it’s patches soon as well for those looking for a complete set of album covers.

Was there ever a vanilla WoW and patch rips?

Man i’ve been looking for Doublehex’s Complete Mists of Pandaria Gamerip for awhile and glad to see it get reuploaded.

I wish I had known. I’ve had Pandaria available for those that missed it (with a note on the original thread for people to contact me).

I am wondering now, with the notation "Complete" on scores like Lich King and Burning Crusade, if I missed something when I first downloaded them long ago. I only have the three I’ve mentioned here, and I can’t believe there are so many more! Doublehex is a forum treasure, as are those backing up the uploads (Mediafire being my preferred source – but those used above have been working extremely well).

I was wondering if 4.0 – Cataclysm was the same as 4.0 – Deathwing. Both are noted as 4.0 and are the same size.
Actually, most of these splits are confusing to me (like, 5.0 – Mists of Pandaria / 5.0 – Pandaria…are they different files?).

It’s the same file, only a different place where the file is uploaded (Gamefront or Mega). I should have said that is a alternative link in the first.

Thank you. And thank you for the easy access to these fantastic scores. I praise Doublehex in virtually every other post, so this one is all yours.

But I have another question and I don’t feel this necessarily needs to be in a separate thread. If so, let me know. But, not having access to liner notes, I’m wondering if these scores are all done with orchestras or synths. I looked elsewhere for this answer and found a review for "The Burning Crusade" that said it was made with a real orchestra and choir. Is this the case for all of them? If not, which have which?

(http://www.4shared.com/rar/eLLe7IWC/world_of_warcraft_ost.html) I DL’d it and it looks to be the standard score – I don’t believe there is anything more than what was originally released (i.e. nothing extra like Doublehex provides).

No it is not, this music was added later in the transition from the Lich patch for cataclysm. It is even on YouTube, but there is not the exact names and the like.

It was missing a lot of tracks.
For instance, it only had part of the battle with Ook, a beep in the middle of the fight with Ganondorf, and none of the boss fight intro music is present. But there are a ton of other problems: Go look for Prime Blue’s rip. It never stays in the same place for long, but when you find it, you’ll see what I mean. And you’ll be thrilled, I guarantee it. Also check out ZREO’s Twilight Symphony. That’s also fabulous.

Doublehex never did 1.0+

Hey there! I can answer that. The first track is the intro cinematic cue, and the reason that is missing is because when I did the rip I did it from the beta client. As such, I did not have access to the cinematic cue. That release is probably from before I uploaded the cinematic track from the OST.

Just as Ashadelo said, I did not do a rip of 1.0 or any of the patches lad within. The reason being I have no interest in 1.0, the OST serves my purposes, so I have no intent of ever doing a 1.0 rip.

I can’t believe I found other people this committed to getting the full, complete soundtrack to this whole damned game! I’ve been, completely in the dark of the things happening here, painstakingly organizing my personal collection as well, and I have to say that what has been posted here is just straight-up amazing! I am a total completionist in every aspect regarding this soundtrack, and this may be the very first place where I can actually contribute to this site that has given me so much…

I recognize the excellence of the posted materials before now, but I believe that the people here would very much appreciate my collation and organization of the music, which was done for maximum information and organizational simplicity. I’m still putting the finishing touches on it, but you can expect my own upload to take place here shortly.

This is absolutely unbelievably amazing!

I own all the OST’s and knew there were lots of missing tracks, including some of my favorite themes. I always thought about trying to learn how to extract those tracks from the game files but was always too lazy to do it.

I’m so blown away by the amount of effort to put together the COMPLETE OST. Again, absolutely amazing!

It should be the official 30-track game soundtrack, released as CD and iTunes download, not ripped from the game. I checked Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Original-Soundtrack-Jason/dp/B003KWM7S8) against what I have and they both came to the same amount of time (no track list to match). Then I went to iTunes and it is exactly what I have (you can see the iTunes track listing here (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/world-warcraft-original-game/id288879642)). If the 4Shared download is NOT this same 30-track version, then let me know and I will upload it myself or you. But it should be, because it is where I got it.

I checked everything I have and the only WoW set I have without a subtitle (like, �Wrath of the Witch King� or �The Burning Crusade�) is what I noted previously. Well, at least the above explains what the 4Shared file is for others. Good luck.

I did find this though: WoW Game Rip (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/2309) (from a 2007 post). No track titles though. PLUS: I don’t even know if these can be downloaded from here…it i kinda nutty looking.

Perhaps someone else will reply with more useful answers, but for now, this has been my experience – I believe there was some sort of discrepancy with the number of tracks/cues on my download of Mists of Pandaria as well, and I downloaded it a couple of years ago. I only have a vague recollection of whether or not I asked about it. But given the number of tracks, and my relative unfamiliarity with the game (not noticing if themes were missing), I know that if I did ask, I certainly never followed up.

As for the order – this may or may not apply to you – but I use iTunes version 10.7 (I dislike the format of the later version) with the Silent Night () custom skin.* Whenever I transfer files to my Android phone, my iPod Touch, or my relatively cheap MP3 players, they are always in the order that I left them on the playlist within my iTunes library. So, if I have them in alpha order in the iTunes playlist, they are in alpha order on the phone or iPod.

I use iSyncr to transfer iTunes files and playlists to my Android Phone, and of course an iPod simply autosyncs. The cheapish MP3 players are just file dumps into file folders within the MP3 players. I’m lucky to get any organization from them.

Regardless of what you use to view your music library, I would at least double-check to see if they are in a different order there versus the MP3 player. Granted, if you are transferring these music files without the use of playlists, then my example probably doesn’t apply/help.

It would be nice to know if/how you get this resolved. Good luck, Haseoxthexscion.

I know I left you guys hanging after (maybe) getting your hopes up. I have the complete gamerip. I’m getting back into the game soon.
