Thank you so much !!

One of the worst games ever, yet blessed with one of the best OSTs ever. Thank you!

Well sorry but I can’t let you say this, for me, Unlimited SaGa is the best game ever, number 1 on my favorite game of the universe. 🙂
The 2d is simply SaGa Frontier 2.

Well, generally I just say that the SaGa series is the top of all, before Otogi, Grandia, FF, Front Mission, Sonic etc…

Interesting, the SaGas I dislike most are Unlimited and Frontier 2… I just don’t get them, they make the player to use too many outside helps to be beaten, like the strategy part in Frontier 2, it is nigh-impossible without a) good luck and b) walk-thrus. :/ Sad, because both games are very interesting, actually, and Itou Kenji’s music is always great. Also, I would LOVE to love SaGa Frontier I, but they made getting money in that game impossible, and I will not use that gold trick that is mentioned in strategy book. All tricks are cheating.

Anyways, I love and hate SaGa, I have (read own) Frontier I w/a guide-book (USA, PSX) and II (USA, PSX and PAL, PSX), Romancing SaGa 2 (JPN, Super Famicom), Romancing SaGa -Minstrel’s Song- (USA, PS2)… and TWO (don’t ask) Unlimited SaGa (PAL, PS2). Sadly almost all of them have something that makes them unplayable for me. 😀

Well, It’s totally different for me, I have a good feeling about these games because they have everything I love in a game:

– Fresh and Original gameplay.
– A very challenging game design, you need to go back learn the basic, even if you are a TRUE HARDCORE MASTER J-PRG GAMER.
– A very impressive taste of art, the music (kenji Ito, Masashi Hamauzu), the artwork and art direction (Yusuke Naora, Tomomi Kobayashi…..)

And, an AWESOME storyline, yes, even in Unlimited Saga (but the story of SF2 is better), I remember these words from Gustave XIII :
"nous n’avons pas avoir honte de ce que nous sommes, car c’est cause d’eux que nous sommes ainsi" –in Fr
"we do not have to be ashamed of what we are, it’s because of them if we are like this." –something like that in English

SF1 was great too, asellus……. *o*

About the high difficulty of these games, I must say that I never used any strategy book, however I remember how many times I have spent in the toilets reading the manual of these games again and again, to try to catch all hidden feature, and it was a very hard thing for me, since lot of SaGa was never traduced in French (like SF1, US and many other SaGa), and I was younger, with a small English experience. 🙂

Is take me about 40hours to understand how the stupid combo work in Unlimited Saga lol !

Yup, I think those are the reasons why SaGa is liked by many, yet hated by many. People usually think RPGs are just grinding the battles, reading text and grinding some more. But SaGa is a really demanding series, almost every game has a different mechanic, which may scare people.

What I don’t understand why no one hasn’t translated Romancing SaGa 2. It is so cool. Why they haven’t remade it either (well, they did, for cellphones 🙁 I would kill a few… monsters for Romancing SaGa 2 remake for 3DS…
