Practical Magic was a 1998 film about 2 sisters (Kidman & Bullock) trying to overcome a hereditary “gift” that gave them wonderful magical powers but that also caused the men they fell in love with to die.
Michael Nyman composed the original score, which is fun in a retro sort of way, but also modern and brassy. The producers apparently wanted something fluffier, and Nyman was replaced by Alan Silvestri. Ironically, the movie is more serious than fluffy and Nyman possibly composed the more appropriate score. The change in composer was so abrupt that a soundtrack with 2 instrumentals by Nyman was already released. When the Silvestri version came out it had the same 11 vocals as on the Nyman release, but replaced his 2 instrumentals with 2 by Silvestri.
Neither score was ever given a full commercial release, but versions by both composers have been floating around for years. There’s the well-known 38-track version with music just by Silvestri, and a 25-track version of Nyman’s rejected score, both offered here in lossless. The 63-track version you might see online is just these 2 scores combined.
There’s also an extended version of Silvestri’s score with 47 tracks (offered here in lossy) and I’ve seen a 54-track version too, although it’s 3 1/2 minutes SHORTER than the 47-track version! And then there’s the 50-track version of Nyman’s score (which Wikipedia refers to as a "demo recording"), which is also offered here in lossy. Many of the tracks are quite short, and some so faint you’ll have to crank up the volume to hear them. But sound quality is great throughout.
38 TITLED TRACKS BY SILVESTRI with a total time of 50 minutes.
Great stereo sound with no dialog or sfx. TAU and EAC both indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless, and were ripped to FLAC.
36 of these tracks also appear on the 47-track version. The 2 that do not are "Blossoms," a folksy tune for guitar used early in the film, and "Practical Magic" which is used over the end credits and is perhaps the most orchestral track.
47 UNTITLED TRACKS BY SILVESTRI with a total time of about 53 minutues.
Great stereo sound with no dialog or sfx. All tracks on this disc turned out to be lossy. This disc had a cover with only simple text on it, so I came up with something a little nicer. 36 of these tracks are also found on the 38-track version and have the bonus of being lossless there.
25 TITLED TRACKS BY NYMAN (rejected score) with a total time of 39 minutes.
Great stereo sound with no dialog or sfx. TAU and EAC both indicated all tracks on this disc to be lossless, and were ripped to FLAC.
24 of these tracks also appear on the 50-track version. The one that doesn’t have an exact match is the 9-minute "Suite".
50 UNTITLED TRACKS BY NYMAN (Demo of rejected score) with a total time of just over an hour.
Great stereo sound with no dialog or sfx. Lossy! I have no cover art for it, so came up with some simple artwork. 24 of these tracks are also on the 25-track version, with the bonus of being in lossless there.
For the record: I cannot locate a disc for this version, so I am guessing it’s something I found online years ago. Since I was not a part of FFshrine at the time I did not keep track of the original uploader’s name etc. so cannot offer credit to anyone. I’m including it here with the 3 discs I do have, thinking that one of you will probably ask about it.

Link 2: "Temporarily unavailable". Old memories of MU times ! 🙂
For several days i have files from mega.co.nz ready to dowload on Jdownloader, but they are temporarily unavailable always.
Don`t like much for the new mega.
Cheers 🙂
Despite the problems you might have with MEGA, it’s really the best choice out there now: no ads, fast downloads, available in most countries, no wait between downloads…
I use Firefox and not Google Chrome, and everything works fine. I would suspect that IE would have trouble, but then it sucks anyway. What are all the other downloaders here using? Enlighten me!
I’m using Safari (on a Mac), I do not use any sort of additional download client, and I’ve never had any trouble with any of the other file services people here are using. MEGA just keeps spitting out that stupid "you need Google Chrome" crap ad and not letting me download. I’ve tried with both the "no thanks" and "do not show this ad again" boxes checked and unchecked. I’ve cleared my browser cache and history. I’ve even restarted my computer, router and cable modem. No matter what I do, it doesn’t work. Sorry yepsa, but MEGA is a mega pain in the ass and gets a big thumbs-down from me. 🙁

I can assure you that JDownloader works fine with files stored on MEGA except those that are unavailable, the same wih Peeje and Packupload,
On internet explorer, files from Mega only 50 Mb, above it only goes for Chrome or Firefox.
The same files that JDownloader says that are unavailable, still goes unavailable on Chrome and Firefox, because I tried these both and nothing happened.
Mega for the moment is not good storage.
Cheers 🙂
I’m not a Tech person, and have to look lots of things up. Which means I may not understand exactly what I am reading. From what I could determine online, Safari is not compatible with MEGA because it doesn’t support javascript. Neither do earlier versions of IE. It may vary version to version. MEGA requires javascript, and Firefox, IE 10 and Google Chrome comply. I don’t think it’s fair that MEGA should try to steer everyone to Google Chrome, but a message that tells you your browser won’t work is presumably telling you the truth. I also read elsewhere that Safari doesn’t work with MediaFire and Deposit Files. If that’s still true, Safari wouldn’t seem to be the best browser to use for downloads. UPDATE: Please see last paragraph in post #22 below.
Allow me also to clarify my position as an uploader. It takes a lot of time to conscientiously rip a disc, write notes and scan the artwork. And more time to upload it all. I get PM’s asking me to re-rip in a different format, or re-scan the artwork in a higher res. Even to re-up everything to specific (sometimes dubious) hosting services. I have to say "no" simply because I don’t have the time, nor do I want to be registered with every hosting site out there, some of which have far more serious problems than MEGA. I started with Rapidshare, switched to Peeje and then PackUpload. All along the way I had people complain they couldn’t access the links. There is simply no feasible way to please everyone.
MEGA is new and has kinks to work out, but it’s simply the best place for me as an uploader: it lets me store 200+ lossless scores, won’t delete files or links, doesn’t bombard users with ads, is faster than most, is accessible in most countries, and has great file management features that no other service offers. For now, I’m sticking with it, and I think more and more MEGA links will start appearing here. I’ve already noticed that entire Threads, like "Classical Corner" (now at 27 pages), are switching all their links to MEGA.
But I don’t want Scary Kitty to be unhappy either! In light of Kitty’s comments, some of you sent me PMs verifying you had no trouble at all downloading, and maybe one of you could kindly re-up the files to your personal service and add additional links here.
Thank you.

I can assure you that JDownloader works fine with files stored on MEGA except those that are unavailable, the same with Peeje
I recall that JDownloader was not at all compatible with Peeje, but they are gone now so it doesn’t matter. MEGA is another story. A short online discussion as recent as June 14 indicates a download problem does exist between JD2 and MEGA and it can be found here: [Wait for Plugin Update] Bugs: force download and mega.co.nz – JD Community (http://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=48889)
It ends by saying "Please wait for the next round of plugin updates to take place."
In any case, MEGA replied to my inquiry about these "unavailable" files and I added their reply below (post #22). I do not know if JDownloader in particular is still having problems with MEGA.
FIREFOX 20
Starting with version 20, Mozilla Firefox finally supports the tiny JavaScript API detail that we had been craving for, making it the preferred browser to use MEGA with (unless you need recursive folder uploads, which remains a Chrome specialty). Very stable thanks to proper memory management. Extremely fast JavaScript engine. Excellent text rendering, with proper character spacing/kerning even under MacOS. No folder uploads. Highly Recommended !!!
GOOGLE CHROME
Supports recursive folder uploads. Very fast JavaScript engine. Memory management flaws cause occasional crashes, especially under UNIX/Linux and on 32-bit platforms. Anemic text rendering, erratic character spacing under MacOS. Recommended on 64-bit operating systems.
IE 10:
Very fast JavaScript engine. Excellent text rendering. No folder uploads. Not recommended (until msSaveBlob is fixed)
SAFARI:
No support for writing files from within JavaScript (requiring a kludgy Flash-based workaround). No folder uploads. Erratic character spacing under MacOS. Not recommended
Just a request, one of your cover art is corrupted. When extracting the "PRACTICAL MAGIC 38 tracks Alan Silvestri", we are unable to open the cover "Practical Magic SILVESTRI COVER.jpg.". The file is corrupted.
Can you share a download link for this pic ?
Thanks in advance. Best regards.
Nymans sounds like a sweet comedy score.
Thanks! 🙂
Thanks for anyones help

I know that sharing and posting steals our precious time.
Each uploader is free to choose a hoster that suits most.

Thank you for the tip. That cover was accidentally saved in the wrong format! I fixed it and if you download the 38-track Silvestri version now you will get good artwork. If you do not want to do all that again, please PM me an e-mail address where I can send you the cover. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I get prompted for a an decryption key on the MEGA site, am I doing something wrong?
No decryption key is required. This usually happens when the link is copied & pasted rather than just clicked on. Can you try doing that?
Thanks!

No yepsa, the unavailable files continues…
No one else seems to still have this problem (or at least they aren’t telling me). I will contact MEGA about this but they will want to have some specifics, like what browser and version you are using. Can you supply details? Is it only MY Mega links that are unavailable to you?
Thanks for the new link 🙂
No links are "dead" on MEGA—I just downloaded all 4 versions with no trouble at all, by copying & pasting the links from an e-mail, and by just clicking the links above. I am using Firefox 21 (which seems to be the newest version). However, it’s clear it’s not the same for everyone and I have complained bitterly to MEGA about these inconsistencies. It’s not something I can fix myself. Other people who use MEGA are complaining about the same problem. It should be temporary….please try again.
yepsa, I use Jdownloader to download from MEGA, as IE I have got only allows to get till 50 MB of the file. JD works fine with MEGA, I have no problems with it. I Managed to dowload many other files from MEGA with no problem, on your post only the 47 and 25 tracks`files have this unavailable thing, the others went fine.
I have at least 15 files unavailable on JD waiting. And they are sill unavailable.

these links are from this forum.
Silvestri 38 tracks is unavailable.
It’s the first time I face a problem with MEGA,
I tried again and now it works.
I tried again and now it works.
I contacted a guy who runs another Thread that uses only MEGA links and asked if he was having the same trouble as me. His reply…
"It’s been unpredictable the past week. I even emailed MEGA about it, they conceded they were having server problems. But most of the time it seems to work."
MEGA insists it’s a temporary problem but for the best results also urges everyone to use the latest Firefox as a browser. Stay tuned!
suddenly, last weekend, all my unavailable files pending on JDownloader, managed to work, right now no more problems with mega
cheers 🙂

Did you make sure the uploader didn’t accidentally mention the password right above the download links you clicked on in the first post?
New NYMAN links have been added. Sorry for the inconvenience.
