This is a nice one. I never thought anyone could match Richard Burton, but Liam Neeson credits himself 🙂 thanks for the upload

Thanks for the share… it was an interesting listen, however I don’t think its incredibly successful in its goal. Ultimately, it sounds too close to the source material for it to be considered a separate experience, with merely low-quality electronica thrown in here and there and the odd additional sound effect, and I doubt it is going to appeal to much of a younger (and/or wider) audience.

Liam Neeson was a good choice for Narrator, but personally I prefer the Richard Burton version mainly due to better pacing and drama.

Thanks for the upload. I’m enjoying this. Like Clemery says, its not a revolutionary overhaul of the original. All music has been re-produced to more contemporary tastes, but there’s nothing to offend fans of the original release. And I have to say, while I love Burton’s recording, there’s something about Neeson that’s perfect for this. A classic with a new twist.

Thanks for sharing. It’s amazing to see how Jeff Wayne turned this album into a veritable franchise.

Thank you – I was not aware that this existed. Most definitely worth checking out, as I’m a huge fan of the original.

Gosh, I was so skeptical about this one, and stubborn too. How could the magnificent original 1978 recording be improved upon? Once I started listening; it all became apparent to me. This stands out as another excellent rendition, and for fans of the original it is absolutely well worth checking out.

I thought this was quite good actually. Different but it clearly respected the original.

Has anybody had any issue with the .cue files though? I can’t get the cue files to work right and even cuetools can’t seem to fix them like it usually can.

Issue? Why would you need them? Unless you’re planning on making a perfect copy of the actual CD. Which is… illegal, i guess… 😛

Seriously, open the cue file in notepad and you’ll see this (just using one line):

FILE "05 – Brave New World.wav" WAVE

It is referring to a wav-file and what you have here are flac-files. I suppose that could be the problem. And besides, the file name itself (Noncompliant.cue) could also be a hint… Note that i haven’t even tried correcting the cue-file so…

Right but that’s what cuetools does – it normally corrects the cue file if you drop it in the program – it fixes issues like the "WAVE" lines in the cue sheet. But for some reason cuetools which normally has no issue fixing cue sheets can’t fix these for some reason. I can’t figure out why it doesn’t like these particular cue sheets. Very odd. Now and then I come across cue sheets that I can’t seem to do anything with.

I like to use the cue sheets in my external media player which reads them. And they’re important for burning gapless tracks if you were planning on burning a CD as you said (I just use my media player).

Any chance this could be re-uploaded? I’m curious to hear it.

I too would like to hear it and do a comparison.

Loved the 1978 version!

Thank you.
