I never heard of Vienna Symphonic before, but dayum. Dat price.
For EastWest, since they’re having a sale, I was considering getting these:
Goliath
Gypsy
Ministry of Rock
Pianos Gold
Silk
Symphonic Choirs
Symphonic Orchestra Gold
Voices of Passion
The voices just sound weird and synthesized. Some of them are good, but for the price it doesn’t meet my expectations. If you are going to get good vocal quality, I would go with Symphonic Choirs. That, imo, would be the best investment for you can actually have the samples do lyrics using a Word Bank.
I am using Reason for the most part, but i am pretty short on good symphonic sound fonts. I think i’ve found some good strings, but i really want horns, awesome deep inception horns. I also use Adobe Sound booth and Audacity to cut up stuff when im done. Aside from FL studio, i actually don’t know much about what’s out there. I started by asking around if there was an adobe photoshop equivalent to music programs, and i was told Reason. Now i have to look up what you guys are talking about : P
I haven’t been able to find decent sounding horns either. I just stay away from writing brass parts for the most part. I myself don’t really use much besides MidiNotate, FL Studio, and WavePad.
Anyway, I wouldn’t call myself a music pro, but I’ve scored a few indie features and have credits on IMDb.
Nothing spectacular, but feel free to take a listen.

Thank you! I’m trying my best. 🙂
I had already shared my compositions on another topic so here is the link: Thread 122539
Raphal D. Hardy (http://raphaeldhardy.bandcamp.com/) they are amateur compositions that can’t hold a candle to, for instance, Prott2’s but I am not with the intention of earning my living that way. It is just a pastime! I will give all of your projects a careful ear!

First, I must say you’ve got some pretty trippy album art going on there. I’m really enjoying your stuff, particularly "Looking at Them from the Top of the Hill". Such a cool feel to those songs, almost makes me think of Yann Tiersen’s style.
I’m a game composer. Here’s my SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/winifredphillips

East West has decent sounding horns. Check them out in my track "New Earth, New Life". I try to use a wide variety of instruments in it to demonstrate the capabilities of the sound fonts.

Welcome to the thread, Winifred. I enjoyed your theme to Assassin’s Creed Liberation. It has a Survivor like sound to it :).
Sounds great guys. What Speaks/Studio Monitors do you guys use if you don’t mind me asking

Thanks Galaga! I’m really glad you liked my stuff! Also, Galaga is a very cool name. 😀
So I’ll add mine links as well:
https://soundcloud.com/herbaciak – my standard orchestral works.
https://soundcloud.com/bob-the-bear – my second, a bit experimental face.
So here is my link. Tried to make some game music.
Also, general question: Where do you guys go online if you want feedback on your music etc… I’m making a game, and getting ready to launch, i did the sound track, but it’ll be the first time i ever put anything musical out there in public. I don’t really have a trained ear or anything, so i wanna be sure the music isn’t a total mess. Any suggestions? Soundcloud doesn’t seem that useful for critique.
Actually it’s hard to get feedback on the internet imo. People like to listen, to download music etc. but they are not very eager to say what they actually think expect for "cool" or "meh" or "love it". Comment’s like that are nice, it means that people care a bit, but those comments are not helpful when it comes to learning / developing new skills etc. Even on forums that actually are about music making, people are very limited in their opinions and most of them are about bad /good use of samples or poor / nice mastering. One out of ten have something more to say about composition.
So my point is, that You shouldn’t care about opinions, do what you do, share your creation with world and… wait ;).
p.s.
And I’m perfect example of person who listens to piece, then gives "like", say few words at best and… next;).
and I will upload some demos of my stuff later 🙂
Luminosity | Marlon Leonel (http://marlonlh.bandcamp.com/album/luminosity)
Luminosity | Marlon Leonel (http://marlonlh.bandcamp.com/album/luminosity)
In my opinion it’s just… meh. You write that it’s "showcase of musical variety", yet I cannot hear any variety. Maybe it’ s just me though. I’m gonna add on the goodish side, that it has some kind of mood, and minimalistic, yet nice melodies. But for me it’s mostly boring and quite cheap. Don’t worry though, it’s "not my cup of tea" kind of music, so keep doing what you do;).
What baffles me more, is the fact, that you want money for that. As you say, it’s demo. And I see it that way: you are actually blocking an ability to hear your works, to people who might be interested in it. It’s a bit of a paradox, that you want to show your music and yet you are making it harder to hear. I don’t get that…
p.s.
That "Heartbeat" track is sooo bad, so cheesy with that cheap beat, sorry ;P.
But damn, I honestly appreciate you ripped me a new one. Haha.

I got 2 new tracks, one is for my puzzle game i am putting on iOS soon:

I’ve put up a demo album of mine for sale, if anyone’s interested:
Luminosity | Marlon Leonel (http://marlonlh.bandcamp.com/album/luminosity)
So far I’m liken La Petite the best. I really like the mood you get going in your stuffs.
Also the Luminosity track is pretty cool. Sci-Fi adventure platformer ahoy! Again, love the emotion.
Galaga, your stuff sounds pretty sweet! I really like Sleeping Dragons, but perhaps you could try panning some of the instruments and messing with dynamics a bit more? At times it sounds overwhelming with all of the instruments dead-center–but in the places that does happen, it’s only for a short time. What’s the piece for, if I might ask?
Nearly all my music is related to game projects i am developing. This track in particular is for a game with sleeping dragons in it : D I’ll post online about the game when i make enough progress : P
Anyway, I have a Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/EllyrythWindriver) for drafts, and a Bandcamp page (http://ellyrythwindriver.bandcamp.com/) for "finished" albums (might just be me, but sometimes I feel like the songs are never actually done, just published). Feel free to tear them apart if you like :b
AxemBlue: Nice stuff, i added you to the top! BOOYAAA
dsdsdsds: I have no idea.
Guys, out of all the music you’ve made, what do you think is your best track?
ALSO, i changed the title of this thread a little, as i want everyone here to appreciate it and encourage you guys.
edit: I guess i can’t actually change the thread title…. doh.

– It’s a Silent Hill-inspired ambient act. I have composed for years and in 2009 I made a megamix named ‘The Cult of Silent Hill’ that was uploaded and featured on the fan album section of silenthillmemories.net. This is the new link to my music (now on soundcloud). Can you update my link in the first post?
I recently posted my ‘The Terminator’ theme cover track to Brad Fiedel’s personal FB page, and he commented. It wasn’t much, but I’m a huge fan of his work so I was very happy 😀
I’m also working on 2 films at present – one a short, and one its feature length successor. Both horror, both micro-budget, but I’m happy to be actively involved in something.
I’ll post some of this as soon as the music is done!
Any SC comments/likes would be massively appreciated 🙂

P.S. I am well aware being a shitty composer myself that my word on what music is probably isn’t the best out there.

Working on first solo album.
Unrelated, a couple new things of mine:

the intro to my metroid 2 album. for a long time I have wanted to do a homage to Jerry Goldsmith’s ALIEN soundtrack, aaaaand finally that came to happen :D.
https://soundcloud.com/mbfb/samus-vs-the-queen-part-1
the theme for her majesty queen metroid is my own invention. it basically came to me after listening to a lot of Akira Ifukube, especially his 90s Godzilla music.
Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Here’s something new i was messing with, trying to work on my transitions, shifting tempo, and this is probably the first song i made not in 4/4 time. Lawl…

I’m heavily influenced by the Rockman X soundtrack (one of my absolute favorites) and the likes of Saitama Saisyu Heiki.
I’m actually working on a full ‘soundtrack’ to this idea of a shooter I have named Sabercode. Yeah, kinda centered everything around the idea of it.
I do all my work in Renoise with various plugins and samples.

New site for all updates concerning my projects and events! New release is coming in the form of a single and it is Sulyya Springs for Piano and Viola. ETHEReal String Project will be due for release in quarter one of 2015 as originally planned.
I put a couple new things on my soundcloud:
Super intense track inspired by Interstellar: https://soundcloud.com/jayoh-1/rage-against-the-dark
Some super electronic track inspired by Disney’s Electrical Parade: https://soundcloud.com/jayoh-1/electric-ticker-tape
The musicians that I got to perform the arrangement are simply among the most talented people I have worked with so far. They have brought this music to life! I am honored to have them contribute their talents!

Sounds pretty nice. I think you captured that sensation quite well.
I sometimes compose in my free time. My main problem is that I tend not to finish my original songs because I get to a point when I have enough of it and just trash it or save it and never open it again. I have no musical background.
This pretty much is me to a T. LOL
My game music arrange album is finally out :). I am hoping to gain still more support for it so please pick up a copy if you would be so kind and spread the word. Did I mention free whiskey? 😛
I have uploaded new works (compositions, arrangements, and remasterings). Chiefly among them is Antipyretic from Final Fantasy Tactics and Main Theme from Parasite Eve. On my regular profile I have Schala’s Theme for Orchestra as well as some new compositions.
You can find it on my Bandcamp page (link is in my signature) and I stuck my own cue in it somewhere (see if you can spot it). I have composed original music-
but it is on my hard dive… which is close to failing… so heres to me recovering certain data, files, and music I won’t be able to get back if it goes through.
My latest release is in the form of a Sci-Fi game score called TITAN ONE. Unfortunately, it will not see a release but the music can still be handed out :).
Hello everyone, I compose cinematic music for films and games. Nice to meet you all! 🙂
Hello everyone, I compose cinematic music for films and games. Nice to meet you all! 🙂
Hello, I also compose. Nice to meet you too! 😉
Another track I’ve been working on, all I got so far. Might be a rough cut since I’m probably going to change a few things regarding an instrument or two, maybe tinker with the drums as well.
Here is a character theme I am working on. It is a rough draft but it has a very Hamauzu sound to it.
Also I uploaded my orchestration of Find Your Way from Final Fantasy VIII which is from Loudr’s album SUCCESSOR: Final Fantasy VIII Remixed.
So I picked up another film project. Less than a day into scoring and my hard drive is TOAST! 0_0 Such bad luck. Anyway I’m upgrading to some SSDs and I’ll be scoring next week.
This is my ‘artist’ page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/DHComposer (http://www.facebook.com/DHComposer)

Obviously not fishing for likes but support is appreciated. I’ll have a ganders through this thread and check out samples and the like since I last visited 🙂

Why? Probably because a lot of that game’s music was piano driven, and I think this song shares the same first couple notes as one of the songs from ODST.

Have fun!
Dustin
I don’t have much experience, and have only really been trying (inconstantly, on and off) for about less than a year. As a result, I don’t have too much to show for it! :p But, what can help, is that I get inspired rather easily, or, in other words, sometimes when I’m listening to a track or cue I really enjoy, I’ll want to compose something similar to it, or on occasion, whatever I compose will reflect the mindset or musical mood that track put me in.
That doesn’t mean it always will prevail in making what results from every one of those instances – good music, however, with more (and consistent) practice you can improve the abundance of good music that comes from those experiences. 🙂
What I do have to show to you, is 11 demos/unfinished works of mine, which are sorted from least to most recent. Not much I feel like I want to say about them, at least for right now. :p But my sincere thank you to whomever takes the time out of their day or night to listen to these, let alone read what I have to say. 🙂
EDIT: Please excuse any imperfections in timing or otherwise. :p

I would describe my sound as a mix of influences from John Carpenter, Vangelis and John Barry, with influences from more contemporary hip hop and electronic thrown in for good measure.
