A peculiar image has surfaced the internet recently and has been causing all kind of assumptions that Sega could be announcing a new console due to Microsofts abysmal Xbox One reveal.
The image above clearly shows a Sega logo as well as an unknown logo and the single word Spectrum. The Japanese text translates to A new world of entertainment. and shows the date of June 6th 2013.
This image could mean anything to a new arcade board, a new online service, a new title or like previously mentioned a new home console. Its hard to say at this moment in time but do you think Sega has what it takes to take on Microsofts Xbox one, Sonys PS4 and Nintendos Wii U? Considering that Sega also recently announced a 3 game deal with Nintendo for exclusive Sonic titles it could seem unlikely its a console. Who knows? At the moment this is still all speculation and we will have to wait until June 6th to see if anything comes from this leaked image, that sadly has no original source other than a post on NeoGAF.

Ok… I’m not one to believe the rumour mill at all, BUT if this rumour does turn out to be true (which we’ll find out at E3, just 9 days away) it’ll be about time. True SEGA has stuck to software etc ever since the Dreamcast floundered and sank, yet the Dreamcast laid down the foundation for some of the aspects we see and enjoy in current generation consoles.
In any event, this has myself looking forward to E3 with more anticipation than I had originally. What are your thoughts?
Yes Sega has ties with Sony and Microsoft, but that’s only one part of Sega though. Call me a fanboy if you want, but I have to admit I’m rather hopeful for a new console… one which will fill the void and give Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft a kick in ballsack and have them wake up.
the chances of sega making a new system are 100% ZERO. just because the xone has so far failed all expectations, doesnt mean sega automatically has the budget to launch a new system.
it must be a new board for arcades
only in japan
and what do you know, no new system.
get it through your thick skulls: sega will NEVER make a new system.
im not an optimist, neither a pesimist, im a realist.
i dont see a half full/half empty glass, i see a glass with half the content.
sega will never come back, and people that think otherwise amuse me in their childish wishing.
believing in santa at age 6 = cute.
believing in santa at age 25 = sad.
It’s not stupid do dream that someday Sega might give you a console. It’s stupid, really, REALLY stupid to think that Sega might come up with a new console with 9 days left ’till E3 simply because Microsoft’s presentation of their Xbox One went bad.
sega will never come back, and people that think otherwise amuse me in their childish wishing.
For a realist you really sound like pessimist.
only the educated in the matter can see the difference though.
