No one wants that, what we all want now are the recording sessions (particularly the initial orchestra ones) to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 2004 film version of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’. If Scorepranos can get and post that, I would be mightily impressed and extremely overjoyed indeed!

Now that being said, what are people’s favorite tracks? Mine is "6m35-36 It’s a Trap". That’s one of my favorite scenes. I also love the beginning of "2m12 Thief & Forger", it’s the Mombasa theme only more "dreamy", I guess.

I’m no composer, I’m no music editor, hell I’m not even anything musician related. But I’m pretty sure every film score has at least some sort of alternate. I highly doubt that there’s never a rejected cue when the composer is done writing and recording everything. In a perfect world, yes.

I’m in agreeance with Stygian & David^8 here. That’s not legit, it’s Garage trying to fool people into trading their most valuable assets for it. Did you notice anything over the past few days? Garage seemed to give everyone and their mother tracks off Inception that they requested, which suggested he did indeed have it. Yet not a single track from these so-called "sessions" for TDKR surfaced. And why is that? Becuase it’s bullshit.

It’s neither. Not North, not South. Seriously, that joke is so old. You’d think people would think to themselves "that’s probably an old joke, I shouldn’t say it", but nope. I’ve had more people ask me that than I’ve seen Inception threads on this site.

And me? A master? Hah! I am in no way musically involved in anything, unless you count the FCP X video I just put together. I layed down an audio track. If you consider that me being part of a recording session, well then by all means, I’m a master and I’m the conductor of the session. But seriously, no. I’ve learned a lot in the past 2 years, and most of it comes from the friends I’ve made here. I’ve seen other people’s knowledge grow as well, and I’ve also seen said people create their own musical projects, enough to impress the film composers themselves. I was just expressing my thoughts. I truly believe that there’s more Inception material out there, same as there’s more Transformers material out there. All we have for Transformers is what Jablonsky recorded. Yet Scorepranos (a user on here, you’ll learn who he is after 2 years or so and have yourself become a master) posted some alternates and unused tracks last summer. They’ve never been released to the public before until then, and most people didn’t know they existed. Now after seeing more material come forth from a score I thought we’d have received most of the material for, I believe there’s more Inception material out there. JUST MY THOUGHTS

I really like the one character poster of Cobb where he’s kind of looking off and down a little bit and it’s mosaic-like behind him. Think it’s possible to make a cover using that art?

NOW I’M NO MASTER lol, but if it were me attempting it (with my amateur video/audio editing skills) I’d rip the "Mr. Charles" segment from the DVD, import it into Audacity or Audition (or whatever program you fancy, I prefer FCP b/c it’s easy for me), line it up with the "Mr. Charles" cue, and by doing that, see where the insert is missing (or in this case, included), and add it in. BUT AGAIN, I’m no master. Or wait….I’m part of recording sessions, so doesn’t that make me a master? 🙂

i’m strictly an audio guy, and steinberg cubase 7 is the next best thing to Logic Pro 9 for windows platforms.

Neither can this really be called complete, as it is missing inserts, source music etc. Some are more insistent on this than others. Trailer music etc. So, in my archives I always list these things as expanded, and under the general umbrella of "bootleg".

I see no reason to get all tense about it. Things are labeled all sorts of crazy things now. (See the Man of Steel "Promo"). Just relabel it in your library and leave it. I don’t think the OP wants anyone to "bow down" to him, but a thanks is good manners. And, I know we all need to discuss this type of set til infinity. But sometimes, it comes across as criticism, whether intended or not.

You’d have to take the portion of Mr. Charles before the Mombasa theme starts, mix in the insert, then take the last portion of Mr. Charles and mix that with the end of the insert. I’ve been trying and I just can’t seem to get it to sound nice.

EDIT: Just also wanted to add that the decision to replace the alt version was a good one. I’m fairly certain I’ve heard this in The Ring somewhere.

I hated Avid. BUT, I didn’t know I hated it until we moved to FCP 7. And I just got a new MBP that came with FCP X on it, so it’s very new to me. But anyway, Avid. I spoke to my friend in LA last week, and he said that’s all everybody uses. I was fucking pissed, because I’m eventually moving out there and I plan on doing some editing. I don’t understand how everyone could possibly use it. Especially with FCP & Adobe Premiere?! (which also came on my MBP, wish I remember how to use it). I guess I just didn’t like it because of how shitty it is. However, had the class not moved on to FCP 7, we never would have known. I just don’t like how Avid handles rendering, whereas in FCP, you can view your entire rendered project in real time. And Premiere just takes it a step further, but it was too advanced for me lol

i believe that Avid (and formerly Digidesign) Pro Tools remains the industrial standard because it was the (among the) first digital DAW’s to be developed some 20-ish years ago.
just tradition if you think about it, really. which isn’t to say (necessarily) that Avid doesn’t have some powerful tools to offer…they’re just making them less and less user-friendly and more exclusive to an ever-receding circle of hardware.
which isn’t a problem for those hollywood folk…they’ve got enough experience, and even more $$ in excess to wipe their ass with on buying additional hardware they need in order to run the newest version of software.

Video. I didn’t take the audio class the school had. My teachers told the class that Avid is still being used today (and this was 2 years ago now, almost), and I thought to myself they were just saying that to encourage us to use it. I recall one of my teachers saying something about so many units of Avid being bought back in the day (which is a long time in this type of industry, technology evolves every day) that that’s why it’s still being used today. I may have worded that wrong, but it was something like that. And I just hate the way it looks. But I do love how you can turn off the audio on one of your tracks (either A1 or A2) and the same with video (V1 or V2, or however many video tracks you have). I still haven’t quite figured out how to do that in FCP X. But for right now, video editing. Fo sho. Who knows, I may end up becoming a composer’s assistant or something at RCP!! No, I have a dream, and it’s to be working with someone big (who shall rename unmentioned). That is all.

Some Zimmer ‘sessions’ are either promos or essentially ‘final mixes’, I’ve found – I found that with TLK (which misses two film inserts, and if you want to be picky also misses all of the film mixes for Stampede – plus scorepranos held back an alternate Mufasa’s Dead according to H-Z.com) and TDKR, and it seems it’s the same case here.

There is no score that doesn’t have alternates, even if they are just different takes of the same cue.

you’re taking quite a bit of liberty there, my friend. watch yourself.

That’s actually part of the cue if you listen in the film, a clock ticking to the countdown for the kick. Projections, the same cue released as a bonus track, has this clock ticking removed, thankfully. Hopefully a lossless version of that cue will turn up as opposed to this one

Ah, Yes you may be correct. In that note, I can accept that as part of the cue. But I think with the whole score being 320 some bits and pieces (obviously that clicking) have become a little more bright than originally intended. < Just my opinion. Lossless would be wonderful :fingers crossed:
