Yeah, but I appreciated how enthusiastic the audience was. I had a really good view of Uematsu and Hamauzu’s reactions throughout the concert, and they also seemed to dig the experience.

It’s obviously a live recording, I wouldn’t say it was a ‘fake’ though.

Thanks for this, I was second row and that guy who shouted was stumbling past me. He was trashed. He wasn’t allowed to take his beers into the venue and he necked them before going in.

Glad that this recording is getting positive feedback 🙂 The MP3 was taking a lot longer then usual because there were a few problems, but those problems are fixed and is currently uploading right now.

As for where this came from and if real or fake, I am the person that recorded this show. I choose to record this because it was announced prior that this performance was not going to be recorded professionally. I also made the artwork myself.

Anyways, check back in the next 30 to 40 minutes for the MP3 link.

I received word from Thomas B�cker on a possible 2014 release over Facebook. The information regarding no release was over the fact that a recording would not be made of the concert in Germany. It would be a safe bet to say there will be a release. Like you said, unless the previous album sold poorly (which they probably didn’t) a release looks likely ;).

So, from this we surmise that the release may be a studio recording of the same material, and not a recording of the actual concert? Innnnnnnnteresting… that’s rather expensive…

I was also fooled.. :D, because of your great cover art, looked like the real SE stuff.

As I can hear, the performance of the London orchestra was a bit better than in Wuppertal. Now I did understand the first movement of FF7. In Wuppertal I did not.

�Music = a song� needs to be stamped out of use. It�s not only inaccurate and insensitive, but depressingly betrays the pop hegemony to which everyone is a slave: one size fits all, squash everything into the same tiny mould. This is really a blunder of our generation above all and we ought to be ashamed at our ignorance. Lack of a musical �background� is no excuse – what do they teach in school music lessons at secondary level?

Song as the predominant meta-genre has been with us for, what, over a century? Yet it is only now that we seem to think nothing exists outside of that narrow prescription. Variety is the spice of life! Thankfully, our language isn�t as impoverished as these people would have us believe; we have many words to describe music, so let�s use them!

I�d say it�s even more unforgivable for a VGM fan. Non-song forms come with the territory. How can you claim to be passionate about something you have no desire to treat with specificity?

An Overture, a Symphonic Poem, a Piano Concerto, a Symphony, and two Encores. Here’s a quote by Mr. Valtonen about his symphony :’D

The Symphony is quite free in form. At first I was doing the traditional sonata-form thing 1st movement, etc, but it was taking the music way too much to my own no matter what I tried. So instead I am following the idea of a symphony and sticking more with the original music and story. Movements : 1. Fast. 2. Slow. 3. Fast. Yes, I am missing the scherzo and thought long if I should do it or not. Then the music got overtime (in minutes) and decided to leave it out.

In these days a symphony is mostly considered as a large orchestral work. (That’s also how I see it) The term has been used in baroque period to any music that was written for instruments and it has been evolving since to this day. So I see this work as a large scale work with a heavy nod towards program music. It has the (more) familiar characteristics of a symphony in its movements. Today if a composer calls a work symphony it means that this is something that is the pinnacle of his or her work worthy of the name symphony. There are modern works that do follow the idea of a more traditional symphony and those which just don’t have anything to do with the tradition except the name. (More recent composers like Webern, Berio, Lutoslawski, Glass, Corigliano, Penderecki, Aho (Kalevi) and many others have all different takes on the subject!). This is of course how I humbly view things and I love to see how others view and discuss music!

It’s solid recording, cleaner and with better sound quality than previous one but I have few "buts". First – it’s way to quiet. Second – leaving in an audio file 40 seconds of clapping is annoying, but four minutes of clapping is at least a bit… eccentric. But overall good job, and thanks for it :).
