Best movie endings

Note: If this thread has been made before, please post it and inform me how to delete this cause I don’t know how to since I’ve felt I can’t do so myself.

Dark Knight Rises – It’s not really the last shot of the movie. But the portion of the ending being Alfred seeing Bruce at a cafe that I found to be the best. There’s still a debate as to whether Bruce is alive or if Alfred was just imaging that. Getting people to talk is a sign of a good ending or any scene for that matter. But causing a debate long after the movie’s been out……that’s a sign of an epic scene IMO.

Also, don’t state the ending. As Jessie stated, giving the ending will ruin it for those who haven’t seen it yet.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day – When the terminator had to sacrifice himself so the chip would be destroyed. Also when John got emotional and even Sarah has grown to like him, she even said he was there for John more than his real father was. Great ending to a great movie.

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – Basically like phenomangel said. I like the original music better, but I thought it was cool how the DVD version tied the first 3 episodes into it.

True. I’ll edit mine to remove spoilers although what I’ve listed probably has already been seen.

Well 3:10 to yuma has a nice ending. It features Russel Crowe and Christian Beil. Although the movie is not upto the starcast it has but the ending is a bit on the up side. You can have a watch on a lazy sunday afternoon.

All of Superman movies ended that way, not just the first one. There was a lot of overacting in that move. The black guy complimenting Superman’s suit when he flew to the falling helicopter, I thought was one. I thought Lois Lane was overacting a lot.

That’s not confirmed.You’re just sating how YOU see it and is open to interpretation. My interpretation also is Bruce Wayne is alive, but has moved on from being Batman.

Sharknado. When the guy gets eaten by the flying shark and cuts his way out with a chainsaw. Can’t beat that.

Oldboy (2003) – One twisted culminated ending

American remake coming soon with Samual Jackson and Josh Brolin coming out this year but I don’t
think it can even compare with the original’s superb directing.

I’m going into it with zero expectations. I already know it won’t beat the original, so if I’m expecting it to suck, maybe I’ll actually be pleasantly surprised.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I’ve always loved the ending to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It always used to make me tear up.

I love the ending of The Avengers (2012) movie.

I was one of the few people (that I know of) that enjoyed the ending of Inception. Funny story: Saw it in a packed theater. Screen goes to black after that last moment and the guy behind me jumps to his feet and yells "Bullsh*t!" You got to appreciate an ending that can bring out that kind of passion.

Bought the 10th Anniversary Special Edition (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Memento-Blu-ray/18419/#Review), not knowing it was the remastered version.
First release (http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Memento-Blu-ray/123/#Review) got a rush job so it looks under-par for bluray quality.

Can’t believe no one’s mentioned one of my all-time favourite movie endings: IRON MAN (2008)

Look (2007) by Adam Rifkin. Totally unexpected. A very disturbing but well-made film.

Prince of Darkness. Carpenter cut to black at precisely the right moment.

Best two for me are the first remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and the original THE WICKER MAN .

I’m a huge Nolan fan, and this is still my favorite movie of his, it’s absolutely perfect!

Other great endings are T2, John Carpenter’s The Thing & Toy Story 3

The first SAW had a great ending. Most movies you kind of guess the ending but SAW was on another level. Never saw it coming and loved every second of it. Even the two films after first still had some of that magic.

Gone With The Wind, The Wicker Man, Some Like It Hot, The Thing, Halloween and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. All of those leapt immediately to mind as having memorable and quite brilliant endings (to go into the reasons why would be too spoilerific for words so, if you’ve not seen them, please treat yourself) but I’m sure many more would come to mind if I sat and thought about it…but who has the time to do that?!

I can’t believe I forgot Return Of The Jedi. That’s definitely a winner for me and for the exact reason you mention.

Going with a different direction. Two of my favorite endings are "Say Anything" and "Last American Virgin". Just to name a couple. How about a thread about the least shot of a movie? Like… "Psycho", "Godfather II", or even something unforgettable like something inane, such as "Sleepaway Camp".

Easily the ending for The Empire Strikes Back. Dante explains it perfectly! 😉

Well, I wouldn’t call it the best ending, but "The Village" (2004) had a completely surprising and great ending, which I enjoyed very much!
For this reason, I loved this movie so much more! 😀 And I know I’m one of a few people who like this movie at all… :laugh:
