I’ll see the movie in two days!:)
No such luck. 1-0-1 post-Gladiator action scoring. There are just a few quiet moments: As a general rule, you can tell a good composer from a poor one during those softer moments, as it is much more difficult to write something that is uneventful but musically interesting. Much to my surprise*, Tyler comes up short there, too. Thanks to the uploader for again saving me precious money.

And now, well… it’s better than I expected. Thank you!
Personally, I thought Djawadi’s score fit the world of ‘Iron Man’ beautifully. Debney’s was forgettable. I guess I was hoping for a rousing theme, but it’s just not there. Against better judgement, I was REALLY hoping for the next Superman-like theme, but alas, it’s not to be.
Yeah, your probably right. I’m sure it will service the film quite well. It’s just….. like most of the other MARVEL superhero scores, I rarely re-visit them, and IM3 probably won’t be the exeption. I listen to older Tyler works all the time, and I guess I was hoping for something in that vein. But as you stated, will have to see how it fits the film (In 2 days time, some of us will know. 😉 ).
On the contrary I find the score of Ramin Djawadi on the IM score to be the one really forgettable, heck I swear I didn’t even noticed there’s a score in it more like part of the background sound effects or maybe the sound efx just really overpowers the "music" btw I like some of Djawadi’s score particularly on Prison Break and Fright Night. Debney even made some march theme though It may have not been utilized in the film but you’d hear in the complete score which sounds better just not properly utilized IMO.
Also, let’s not forget that most of Tyler’s scores have a different chronological order compared with the films. The music for the attack at Tony’s house plays in track 3. And the main titles is in the last cue. Most of Tyler’s scores sounds better in their complete form on in the films he scores.

I have not gotten the chance to listen to this, but Tyler is a very good composer, as evidence by Lego Universe. He simply needs the opportunity to write as such – in several interviews he essentially stated he was not allowed to write the music he wants to write.
Sounds like you haven’t listened any of Tyler’s previous works. The score is practically Battle Los Angeles (choir, electric guitars and snare drums) + Dragonball: Evolution (emotional writing with celesta and harp solos), including some kind of homages to the previous scores.
Other than that it seems kind of uninteresting without context, but a lot of scores do without having seen the film. Guess I’ll have to wait to judge. Seems kind of like a stylistic blend between Iron Man 2 (one of my favorites) and The Avengers.
More generic is the people who call generic somebody’s music without knowing their style. Like many others in this days of old farts whining for everything. Especially since that Tyler said that he did an old-school orchestral and choral score. Even though it’s full with electronics, he lets the orchestra to be the primary sound of the score.
I know Brian Tyler’s work, own many of Tyler’s scores. Too bad that he became another adept of Zimmer’s style of scoring.
Sorry to say, that is his style. :/
Do appreciate the upload, though. Listening to it now.
Though I never like "shawarma" (SHAWARMA) the music here is good, not great though. Definitely not his best work because it really doesn’t strike me out the way he does with his scores on Dragonball Evolution (crappy movie adaptation but good score), Transformers Prime, Terror Tract (I swear it has more heroic sounding theme than this outing), COD Modern Warfare 3 and Battle LA. And the last track that’s supposed to be the end credits or theme kinda feels out of place for me.
With Thor coming up next and Patrick Doyle out of the picture I wonder what will Carter Burwell bring to the franchise though I ain’t too happy with that change.
Letting the orchestra be the primary sound in a score means nothing if the music is dull and boring. Not saying that this is the case here, as I haven’t heard it… but for me at least, a film score succeeds or fails on the melodies and harmonies the composer comes up with. Based on Tyler’s composition history, I don’t hold much hope for this score.
This statement is completely vacuous (as is Tyler’s score). The EMPLOYMENT of an orchestra is not a quality per se. If you don’t know what do with it, and if you can’t create memorable themes and colorful orchestrations, just hiring an orchestra to play your super-bland music (which this is) means nothing. Rather, it’s a waste of resources put to better use by a GOOD composer.

Enjoy and Please Say Thanks 🙂
i’m waiting for it
Thanks for the share!
Why is doyle out of the picture? missed that one…
maybe it’s the pressure from the studio because i dont like any of the marvel superhero scores… (sort of enjoy im1 because it’s different)
still, not enjoy tyler’s recent work such as COD, Army of Two either… (jonny dies at the end is half interesting though)
really hope this could be tyler’s opportunity to shine… sigh…
I think we already had something like that with Alan Silvestri’s "Captain America March". At least, that’s how much I like it. Especially since it’s made it into my top 3 favorite superhero themes, the other 2 being John Williams’ "Superman March" and Danny Elfman’s "Batman" theme. By the way, the criteria by which I judge these things is when you hear it, you instantly know which hero it’s associated with.
OT, thanks for providing this. I can’t wait to see Iron Man 3 more now! 🙂

You can scream as loud as you want, that this music is good or even (God help me) a masterpiece, but it does not change the music itself and this is just today’s action standard. Everyone perceives it differently, which is just in the nature of things but does not change the subject of consideration. I grew up with Jerry Goldsmith’s compositions, he was for my work and my personal viewing one of the most talented composers of the 20th Century. I find it exciting that a user has posted here that Tyler was his favorite composer, since Goldsmith died. Grinning with a wistful but friendly smile. Nevertheless thank you for your post.
Thanks again
excited for the movie. can’t wait to listen to it
The First Thread (Thread 131708)
The Second Thread (Thread 131771)
I get the feeling Marvel doesn’t really care much about the music. If they did, they would go the extra mile and keep the same composers across their franchises, or they would at least have the new composers use established material. I’m getting sick of Marvel trying on different composers and ditching them for the sequels. If the rumors about Henry Jackman scoring "Captain America 2" are true, I’m done with these Marvel Studios soundtracks.
Anyway, thanks for the major release! We’ll see how good it is.
Iron Man is no Superman, the guy has a modern attitude, he listens to AC/DC, and he wears a Black Sabbath shirt. Tony is practically a rock star. Tyler tried to make a theme bombastic and heroic, but at the same time it has the modern attitude of the character. Hell, he even made a 60’s version of the theme. A generic Superman-esque theme would have been unappropiated. Debney wrote a heroic theme in the second film (and at the same time, an homage to Goldsmith’s theme for Total Recall), but it was cut in the film. Tyler’s theme already was brought up in the two clips that we’re posted of the movie. And Horner’s Spider-Man had an heroic and emotional main theme.
Also, most of the people who complains about the score shouldn’t watch the film first?
Whedon wanted Silvestri to come back for The Avengers, and he reused his theme for Captain America. And most of the composer choices we’re made because they worked with the directors before (Debney/Favreau, Doyle/Branagh). But, anyway. What’s wrong with diversity? Why a composer should be stuck with somebody else’s work instead of doing something on his own? It’s the same reason why people never appreciated the wonderful variety of the Harry Potter scores, because they we’re too narrow minded to listen something that wasn’t Williams’s first two generic scores (and most of these people complained with Williams’s POA, because he ditched most of his estalished themes, and created a much more original and fresh sound for the series).
Also, if Marvel doesn’t care about the music, they wouldn’t be releasing them on CD, besides the "Music Inspired By" CD. They wouldn’t bothering on calling A-list composers like Silvestri, Tyler, Debney, Horner, Armstrong and Jackman. They wouldn’t bother to have a big symphonic orchestra (in this case, London Philarmonic Orchestra), choir, and soloists playing. They wouldn’t bother to have Rage Against The Machine’s guitarrist, Tom Morello, performing in the Iron Man 2 score.
Music is not everything in a movie.

Wait, wait. Williams’s Potter themes are "generic", and the Marvel set (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Avengers and Cap) are "fresh"? Really? **wow**
Thanks for sharing!
I’m not familiar with Debney’s Iron Man score, did you mean the track I Am Iron Man (great cue, still listening for the first few times, this clearly is a Goldsmith homage – freakin nice) or another track I probably missed?
Here is the right place, thanks Lokdwn.

Thank you so much.
Score Sheets for Brian Tyler Scores also get leaked pretty quickly as well.
i just saw the movie. Good main title for the end credits (finale sequence designed by the great Kyle Cooper) sounds like 60′ or 70′ music for series.

Hmmm… I think I went a little overboard quoting posts about it, and I’m sure most of you already noticed, but most of the tracks in the album are cues from many scenes mixed together, which I noticed after viewing the film a couple of times after downloading it. While I’ve been trying to listen to both the movie and the soundtrack back to back to find out what is where and somewhat edit and put stuff together, college stuff hasn’t let me truly sit down and do just that, but as far as I’ve heard, many of the points that some of you have identified are correct. But my point is that with that move it’s very hard to establish an actual tracklist, aside from the tracks that are actually from one scene in the film :/
———- Post added at 11:23 PM ———- Previous post was at 10:58 PM ———-
Does anyone know which track was playing in the scene where Maya and Pepper are talking in the hotel room? It was what would be described as a "gentle instrumental theme." It carried over into the next scene with Stark as well. Thanks!
Silly me… I quoted everyone but the post I was interested in… But I’m relatively new here, so bear with me 😀
For the bit when Maya talks to Pepper, at this point I haven’t heard it anywhere and I’ve nearly swept through every track, but there’s still hope. Hopefully when I’m done with homeworks and get some free time to work on this I’ll find some answers…
Good lord we need a complete score so bad!!!
