Many many many many thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking around online, it doesn’t seem like there will be a CD release any time soon.
That’s too bad. Although iTunes is a commercial success, they should really allow digital purchase in the Apple Lossless formats.
Yes, with 4 new bonus tracks of previously unreleased music (unreleased as in not on previous commercial albums; NOT as in bootleg or other crap).
"a total of 11 minutes of unreleased music" (unreleased as in not on previous commercial albums; NOT as in bootleg or other crap).

 I stopped reading the forums about it. they got carried away and obsessed with "slate numbers" and other stuff.
But useful to know. Will be interesting to listen to in album form~
inj 3D. :ashine:
That’s what I’m saying. A "New and Improved!" yellow strip across the top just doesn’t cut it.
It’s iTunes digital-only. Not a chance.
They tallied it up, and with this, we’re only missing about 2:40 of the score now.
:erm: Was the score really that short lived?
I haven’t really paid that much attention.
I was too captivated by the hollywood sparkles of the dinosaurs.
and the sound effects.

😕 Dinosaurs? What dinosaurs? You know, theropod hands were held with palms facing each other. Think clapping and not slapping. In order to get their hands to be held the way they do in the movie, you would have to break their wrists. So, basically, no way a "raptor" could open the door…..
Although, the broken hands would explain the perpetual grumpiness of all the meat eaters through out the film.
It’s the other way around: no males.
I only had 3 cups of coffee so far.
:smrt:
:erm: Not that that explains anything or anything…
I haven’t heard any glitches on those tracks.
Can you specify the times where they are heard?
It might be your media player not using enough buffers to playback properly.
Are you on a single-core processor machine?
AAC/M4A formats generally make most media players work extra hard for some reason.
It’s rare for MP3 formats to cause the same issues during playback.
EDIT: Also some media players (like Cowon’s jetAudio) will allow you to modify the output format. Sometimes you can set the output bitdepth to a floating point (usually 32/64 floating point; generally not good for live playback; only for audio editing).
Make sure for audio (live) playback, that your output bitdepths (in any software configuration, sound card included) is set to integers and not floating points. (if "floating point" is not specified in the options, then it’s integer)
:evilmoogle: the other tracks are remastered though!
Can you specify the times where they are heard?
Take a look at "Jurassic Park Gate" in a waveform editor. It isn’t a problem with my media player, the track just cuts out from 1:50 to about 1:54. As for "Remembering Petticoat Lane," it ends abruptly without fading out like it should.
:evilmoogle: the other tracks are remastered though!
Exactly! Don’t delete the other tracks!
:erm: I actually hadn’t noticed the cut outs.
They are screwed up. Severely.
I was too busy multitasking to notice outright the silences.
In this case, no. Usually, I’d opt for the lossless. That’s just my opinion, mind you.
Subjectively, the original release is in lossless.
Objectively, the difference between the Apple encodes (lossy) and the CD (lossless) are near impossible to hear (to most human ears).
Another point to delete other tracks is the broken tracks stated by amh1219.
Not sure if that’s how it is when you buy it off iTunes or… :itsamystery:
Another point to not delete the other tracks is to hear how "remastered" the other tracks are.
They won’t be good for editing though.
Use the original retail CD for that.
Not sure. We’ll have to wait for whomever else buys the soundtrack and decides to share (either their copy or their opinion).
It could be the iTunes software corrupting the downloads themselves or it could be on the other end of iTunes that broken tracks were sent to the iTunes store.
The JWfan forums should have some information on this.
Thanks

Other people (http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23041&page=2#entry892089) are reporting errors on the same tracks.
‘He also told us there are now only three unreleased tracks of music, and they are as follows:
– “You Bred Raptors” (0:30) (Grant’s line as he holds the baby raptor)
– “The Trouble With Dennis” (1:15) (when Dennis is driving around in the rain)
– “Untitled” (0:49) (on the sheet music it’s untitled, but it is sometimes called “System Ready,” and it’s right after Arnold shuts down the computers)’
Lol.
Sounds like an error on the distributors to the Apple site.

Gigantic h/t to Mr. Jason LeBlanc for this information. (Credit where credit is due, please.)
Lol.
That was The Lost World’s soundtrack. It was terrible, though. I’ve never liked storing my discs in a flimsy cardboard slot.
I wasn’t taking credit, I said it came from the Internet (in an earlier post I think) haha
:ohwell:
Still would make nice covers, could always rename what’s on it. Someone also had said that they increased the volume on the tracks in this release, I hope that hadn’t ruined the dynamics..
does anybody know if the itunes track have a watermark or any other marks? And if so, how can you get rid of them.
– Pete

Or maybe the actual 20th anniversary blu ray cover?

That would be great for TLW, but they should keep with the original poster artwork for the first Jurassic Park. That was such a great poster in a simplistic way. I think something more could have been done with the text, especially the 20th Anniversary part. Use the Jurassic font on that part and for John Williams’ name. Maybe they could have downsized the logo a tad and thinned the yellow bars.
The Lost World poster perfectly reflects the decaying state of InGen’s facilities Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar. I’m actually a little bummed they didn’t use the original artwork of either of the first two films for the DVDs and Blu Ray, including the cracked TLW poster against rock. What they have now looks OK, but it looks like something that belongs on a fansite. I admit that I do like the 3D poster, but it’s something I would much rather see for a new film. The original poster is just one of the posters that maybe you clean up a bit, but doesn’t need to be replaced, like the original posters to Batman ’89 (they adjusted for the DVD, using the full quad logo, un-cropped at the sides), Halloween ’78, Jaws, and Alien.

Not sure if this has the watermark or not.
BUT about getting rid of them is not a good idea.
If the watermark is embedded in the frequencies themselves, then there’s literally no way to get rid of them.
"Frequency" watermarks can carry the watermark over any device/recording. It’s the kind you cannot get rid of simply by re-recording it (through any means, not even sound card or cell phone). You would have to seek and destroy the affected frequency samples to remove the watermark. But that would destroy the sound quality.
Also you would have to know exactly what frequencies are affected at any given time in the audio.
Unless you knew the software technology that embedded the watermark (ie. you had it installed and ready to use) and then had the decryption key.
most DRM-free and other commercially available software simply won’t do for frequency-embedded watermarks.
Other watermarks should be easier. But still will degrade the listening quality.
If that be the case, it’s best to buy it yourself.
Sucks if your country doesn’t allow sales.
(use Tor or other proxy services)
thanks for your explanation. Well, I would love to buy the new JP edition but I’m outside US. As soon it is available in my country I will buy.
But until this happens, I would like to use this download. But, of course, I don’t want to get in scope of iTunes or somebody else usind the possible watermarked files. 🙁
Best regards
Pete
Supposedly they were in the movie, right?
The credits incorrectly state that ‘Que Milagro Chaparrita’ was used in the film. It wasn’t. They just mislabeled ‘Las Gaviotas,’ which is a different song entirely (source (http://www.jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19538#entry678665)). I’d share it if I had it.
please stop pointing things out. now i’m going really going to hear it.
🙁 i miss being so multitasked to hear things go by unnoticed.
blips, artefacts and such are more noticeable to me as I’m listening and doing things.
but that silence didn’t sink in. subconsciously i processed it as a track change.

I remember seeing lines like that back in 2005 and before.
We’re only missing about 2:40 of the score now.
So you’re saying that this download is not the full score? Only about 2 1\2 minutes from being complete?
Exactly, but to me only one piece of those missing moments matters enough. It’s not in film-order, but that doesn’t matter either really.
That’s the one.
Supposedly they were in the movie, right?
"Las Gaviotas (Formely ‘Que Milagros Chaparrita’)" is included in TheFame1’s "Jurassic Park: Resurrected" post. Working links here (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f92/jurassic-park-resurrected-complete-score-edit-81601/5.html).
No, we don’t. I just hope TLW gets the same treatment in the near future.
:this:
I just heard that Dredd 3D (2012) will not be getting a sequel.
Actually….sure. It is a digi only release, so no true disc, packaging etc. Apparently no digi booklet, liner notes etc. Only available here in the U.S. "Remastered" but not correctly, with glitches and gaps. Still in the original album for,at of suites, as opposed to separate tracks, so nowhere near film order. If Intrada or La=La had done it, we would have had a true expanded, in film order. With fancy art and a phonebook sized booklet with notes. And true lossless option. What’s with keeping the last 3 minutes unreleased?
talking about remastering and considerations taken.
At least Star Wars had a better cover
The 1977 Cover with the black background and white "Star Wars" letters vs the 2004 civer that resembles the DVD cover
Objectively, the difference between the Apple encodes (lossy) and the CD (lossless) are near impossible to hear (to most human ears).
especially if listened to on shitty headphones like the pair i have. :smrt:
beware of most ‘expanded’ soundtracks put out by the major labels. they are notorious for producing sub-par expansions with bonus tracks lazily shoved to the end of the album. makes for a shit listening experience in many cases. of course you can always re-order the tracks on yr media player playlist or even split truncated cues in order to get film order in yr playlist. williams is notorious for releasing his scores completely out of film order and with cues from different parts of the film truncated into single tracks. sometimes this makes for a better listen than film order, but other times it drives me nuts.
– You’ve Bred Raptors
– The Trouble with Dennis
– Untitled Cue (11m1)
– Las Gaviotas (Source Cue)
I took the three score cues from an old bootleg (I think GoodMusician may have made it). They may have SFX, but they’re definitely the right pieces of music.

If that’s the same version of "Las Gaviotas" as in Jurassic Park: Resurrected, I found it barely audible in the ambient sound of the scene. This YouTube clip seems to contain the same performance and sounded infinitely better:
Madacy Mariachi Band – Las Gaviotas (Jurassic Park Costa Rica restaurant scene EQ remix) – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tStlQN_2Cl4)
And the 11m1 cue is usually called "System Ready". I think it’s when Sam Jackson reboots the computers.

My copy of "Las Gaviotas" is iTunes sourced. I don’t know how it compares to the version on YouTube. As for 11m1, it was labeled "To the Shed I" in the bootleg I got it from, which was weird because they had labeled a different track as "System Ready."
I won’t get my hopes up, but that would be fucking great.

I remember seeing lines like that back in 2005 and before.
Just wanted to comment on this post… the line youre seeing is at exactly 15.734 Hz. The horizontal scanning frequency for CRT monitors (tube monitors) is the reason here and one can find this sine in almost every recording available. The noise from the studio monitors is usually picked up by the hypersensitive microphones, thats why it ends up on the recording. Thats also why you would be able to hear a beeping noise when in the vicinity of an older TV when you were younger (-> a child). The older we get the less likely it is for us to discern that noise, thats why its rarely removed in mastering.
Weird Laugh in Jurassic Park – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scOPfElE61A)
The squeal of the embryo can will be my new ringtone to celebrate this 😀
Or "its a coolant device used for storage. pressure is released in that device when the seal is cracked . that sound only appears in this scene because its his laugh. In the scene where he loads it with embryos there is no high pitch squeal associated with the device. therefore we can deduce that this is a laugh not the release of pressure first by noticing that the initial release of pressure occurs right after he opens it up secondly when he uses it to fill the canister in another scene."
Newman!
That was much more detailed than most I found online.
Thanks for the info.
I notice it’s mostly on older soundtracks.
Thanks for the info.

Yep, the more time progresses the more TFT monitors are in use at studios. Hence the beeping should in theory be absent. Though I still find it on many recent recordings, most of the time its buried within loud signals but when music gets softer it becomes visible again on a spectrogram.
From what I know synch tones are rather low, around 50/60Hz (?).
I second this motion- could anyone put the digital booklet up for download? That would make this even better!
I completely and utterly third it!
So what you’re saying is, those guys who do the DVD rip usually should turn their ears to this release instead and re-cut the music, so we finally get the real think in good audio quality?
someone on the jwf forums mentioned briefly about a digi book. :itsamystery:
I don’t believe they do. I tend to see them on mostly newer scores. It stinks that one might not have been included. I would really love to see some liner notes.
they must be fixing the two broken tracks.
Download Digital Booklet – Jurassic Park – 20th Anniversary.pdf from Sendspace.com – send big files the easy way (http://www.sendspace.com/file/jqwr4s)
Well, some like to read the liner notes, or interviews or whatever there is. And some like to burn off the discs and print the book with art. For me, it lets me read it then dump it, low cost. Just a thing. And some, who are finicky, want to have it just for completion’s sake…
As I suspected, it’s the original "book" from the 1993 release, slightly altered.
What I want to know if anybody knows, is why seems to be no sound loss in this encoding if it’s supposed to be not lossless?
Could this be this format to be a real option to have a music library?

AAC/M4A is much more efficient at encoding.
You can actually get MP3 to retain much of the frequency range. But you have to really know what you’re doing.
Lame encoder is actually a Command Line Interface program (CLI). You can use so many different options and get the best out of it.
It requires you to know what you’re doing and understanding that what you do can make files incompatible to many hardware devices, and possibly, software players (codec libraries dependent).
DON’T even think about talking about the "free format" that allows you to enable bitrates over 320kbps. THIS IS DIFFERENT.
Most programs that use Lame MP3 are simple Front-Ends, GUI’s with limited functionality. But these limitations are to ensure your music is compatible with iPod, outdated hardware, outdated codecs/libraries, etc. A lot of these set a default cut-off for the frequency range.
Not to mention, Lame isn’t the only MP3 encoder.
Fraunhofer IIS is also a top-leading MP3 encoder. It’s much more efficient at lower bitrates; you won’t need more than 192kbps with Fraunhofer IIS.
AAC/M4A is actually a really great codec for lossy music.
You can use either Nero to encode the music.
Nero AAC enc is vastly outdated, yet a lot of people will still swear by it. Probably because it’s so simple and doesn’t require any external dependencies.
I prefer using QAAC to encode any AAC/M4A.
HOWEVER, this does require external libraries. The iTunes/Quicktime/Apple CoreAudioToolbox.dll libraries to be exact.
There’s a tool to extract the required DLL files from any iTunes/Quicktime Player installer so you can use them in the QAAC folder.
QAAC is a CLI. So not for everyone.
I don’t think there are too many GUI’s that implement QAAC. Maybe TAudioEncoder or some such.
"no sound loss" is perceived by the minimal loss in the frequency range.
You’re correct. The film dials out the final moment of "High Wire Stunts"which would have overlayed the beginning of "Hungry Raptor." That cue would have played as Ellie runs through the power shed but due to a deleted shot, the music won’t sync up after the shot of the raptor jumping onto the catwalk into view. According to the making of book, there was another shot showing the raptor climbing the stairs. Perhaps it didn’t look convincing but they cut it and so about 5 seconds of the music plays over no footage. Then it would cut back and play into the scene with Muldoon (as heard). Then as the raptors head pulls into view, we’d hear the sliding crescendo/decrescendo of the Carnivore Motif and the final attack would be as heard on this new set.

What a nice an complete explanation Sparktank2.0. Yes, I know there are some differences between codecs. Franunhofer version of MP3 encoder is not even free I think, so Lame is much more implemented over the net.
I didn’t know much about ACC/MP4 because I always avoided iTunes, iPods, etc until now I have a Mac and I faced the problem of the lack of support of FLAC format. Even I haven’t found a decent player that can play all my high frequency / multi-channel FLAC files (VLC plays totally wrong files beyond 44.1KHz), or DTS encoded files, neither a complete converter solution (I miss foobar2000 and powerAMP on Windows).
You’re right, the sound loss is not perceived by the minimal loss in the frequency range, but the sound data loss is there.
Thank you.
Wow. Yea, looks like they went all out and SCANNED the original booklet art. Better than nothing, I guess, but damn, how cheap can you get.
Nope – the link in the first post has the faulty tracks.
Yes, we’re all twiddling our thumbs, patiently waiting for someone to upload a good version.
The whole album with fixed tracks and digital booklet (http://mir.cr/1SVKH8HF).

there is a FLAC converter to Apple Lossless For Mac which will play on iTunes and iPods. It is called MAX Max from sbooth.org (http://sbooth.org/Max/)

Although that track does have the majority of the cue, there is about 10-20 seconds missing from this presentation. It’s just the string chords at the end but little details lol
and apparently 11m1, although not written on the sheet music, was copywriten with the cue name "System Light On" although thats not always 100% accurate as "Remembering Petticoat Lane" which is written on the sheet music, was copywriten as "Hammond Reflects"
se agradece

The only real reason I still use 320k mp3 is because 1: it’s cross platform/program, so I know that 99% of computer programs will open it (be it VLC or iTunes or Windows Media Player or so on and so forth), and secondly, because it’s overall a smaller file size for (roughly) the same quality, which is great since I have limited space for my music at this time (aiming on getting a terabyte, but as of today, I can’t quite afford one yet)
