I had the 4Phase Stereo LP.
This is a nice upgrade.
Thank you very much, Nacho.

Thanks for this rare and controversial (it’s slow, but interesting) recording by film score legend Bernard Herrmann at Kingsway Hall in London, February 1970.

It’s a controversial approach to THE PLANETS to be sure. The slowest recording available, which works for "Mars" (the most menacing version I know), but not for "Mercury" or "Jupiter". The ensemble playing is flawed, it’s more like a run-through. Clearly, this is not(!) an interpretation recommended to beginners, and in no way representative of the best of versions available (which include Dutoit, Boult (final one), Mackerras, Handley, Gardiner, Groves), but intriguing nonetheless. To sum up, it sounds more like Herrmann than Holst. 😉

Thanks for the share! I wonder though, why omit the rest of the CD? Does anyone have the rest of the tracks?
