I know this is old news, but now that I have the recording sessions to King Kong, I’m curious as to what ever happened to the unused sessions composed by Howard Shore! Is the rejected cues still even exist? The only listenable tracks we have is the sound bits from the Post-Production Diary [13 weeks to go]!

Does anybody else want to pop up the internet and see them leaked or available?

Any thoughts?

It was always my impression that there were never any "recording sessions" done by Shore, per se, only his initial mockups.

EDIT: By the way, love your "internet" explanation.

There have been rumours that whatever Shore recorded for King Kong would someday be released on album by his own label, Howe Records.
Nothing from Kong was released yet, although his music from other films that were never released before, have been edited on album under this label. So all in all, it’s still a possibility that the Kong score can someday be a reality.

Which one? Jack Lenz’s, or Lisa Gerrard’s? Only Lenz’s is available.

I would kill to have Lisa Gerrard’s. After hearing her work from Gladiator, I’ll take anything. Her score for Constantine was rejected, too

No, it wasn’t. She was hired to score "Constantine" (as an old, but now deleted post on her site mentioned), but all she did was the 10+ minute demo; she never did a full score to reject.

his is one of those false stories just perpetuated.

Ah man, that’s a bummer. Well there’s still The Passion to hope for, one day…

I’m not that into rejected scores, but I’d love to hear Terrence Blanchard’s "Akeela and the Bee" and Howard Shore’s "Chinese Coffee." (And of course, Alan Silvestri’s POTC demos).

A few of his cues made it into the film and those appear on the LLL album, yes. Not a lot but some.
