Now what makes this "Expanded"? It’s not just the OST?
coming out. I’m sure there will be, but rather it’s the same content or shorter no one knows at this time.
I get the same thing
Gracias!!
I’ll be in L.A. opening day. Can’t wait! It got pushed up a week to April 5 so that’s even better.
And the promo had a sound alarm.
It does sound like a chainsaw… but like… low on battery or something… hehe! Quite creepy, actually! This Baos guy is amazing!! He has a Chris Young-alike voice when he scores horror… You should check Intruders. Awesome score!! 😉

You haven’t heard anything yet until you’ve heard his score for The Machinist. Yes, Intruders and Evil Dead are both wonderful scores but The Machinist had a very very Bernard Herrmann-ish vibe to it (attributed to the now rare use of the theremin) that really caused it to stand out. Too bad the album is badly truncated but just to have that main title on there is great all on its own.
Thank You very much for this Scoresopranos.
This is the front:

My english is too limited so I don’t understand well you want to say. Do you mean The Machinist soundtrack is incomplete or badly recorded? Is there a more complete soundtrack than the official one? That soundtrack is one of my five favourites all-time and I’d like to listen more cues or bonus tracks
PD: scorespranos, Thank you very much
(I keep thinking of the Simpsons in Australia when I see the preview — "Ahhh, I see you’ve played knifey-tonguey before!")
thanks for this.
Cause you’re foreign, or is that just your hobby? Not judging, just don’t know what to make of your post

Does anybody have Intruders or The Machinist (since they come so highly recommended)?
Gonna take it you never watched Evil Dead II. "I’ll swallow your soul, I’ll swallow your soul, I’ll swallow your– Swallow this." BOOM!
Not yet, nor Army of Darkness. The time has not been right. Perhaps before April 5th

Find the anniversary repacking for Evil Dead 2. There’s been two releases of ED2 on Blu-Ray and only one of them surpasses the other in quality.
Also, they say two is a remake of 1 because it is. They didn’t get the rights/licenses to reuse footage from the first movie so they reshot the scenes for part 2.

:themoreyouknow:
I recently bought the Lions Gate Bluray release of ED2 and it far surpasses the original Anchor Bay disc in terms of extras and quality. I’d pick that one up over the AB disc any day.
That’s the one. 25th Anniversary edition.
also has Alliance logo on the side too.
Isn’t that what the bonus DVD is? There were 2 Blu releases: a 2-disc set (Blu-ray & DVD) and a single-disc set (Blu-ray)
Yeah the 2-disc Bluray was a limited edition but it’s still missing some stuff from the 3 disc DVD set. I’d have to pull my 2 sets out to confirm the missing stuff and I will do that later. Last I recall, it wasn’t very much.
and theres been lots of Great reviews for it!!! SXSW Review: Evil Dead | Shock Till You Drop (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/reviews/172813-sxsw-review-evil-dead)

I’m very tempted.
This is a brilliant score.
Strange. I imagined this would be a Varese release since they handled the first 3 films. A day one buy for sure.
yeah i thougt they are released the first 3 movies in a expanded version,i hope someday they will

wait! 😉
all the more reason i should see it. lol. thanks for the infos.
Just know that is wasn’t scary. There were those few "jumpy" scenes that gets the entire audience, but it wasn’t scary. Just incredibly gory. And don’t go on the weekend when all the annoying teenage girls will be there ruining the experience, see a matinee during the week. I keep telling mysef I’m done with doing movies on opening weekend, but this weekend was an exception

I guess there were maybe like 2 scenes you coulda laughed at cause they were just so ridiculous. I tend to take the movies very seriously. I don’t laugh when something’s not supposed to be funny, I get uncomfortable when I know something disturbing is coming, I laugh when it’s expected, and I jump when it’s expected. I’m not an annoying high school girl who drops $11 to laugh through an entire gorefest and ruin it for everyone else (myself being part of the "everyone else", sitting in front of said annoying bitches)
This will be the cover of the CD release.
Nowhere in the film does that happen. This film went through the same treatment a lot of films do these days:
1.) All Trailers and TV Spots are put together before the rough cut of the film is put together
2.) The rough cut is put together, previewed to the members of the MPAA, and they say "cut this, this, and that and we’ll rate it R". (The first cut was slapped with an NC-17)
3.) Said scenes are cut and chopped up to barely get by with an R, and that’s why we see said scenes in all the TV spots that were never in the film.
3 scenes that come to mind are:
a.) when Mia is creeping up through the trap-door and she says "they’re gonna get you, not another peep, time to go to sleep!"
b.) when she’s walking in the road all drenched in blood (which is what the CD cover is).
c.) when David is going to town on someone (you can’t tell who) with the chainsaw and blood is sprayed in his face. This clip can be seen in the first Red Band trailer
Hopefully these will be included in the first cut of the film, the NC-17 rated cut, which will most likely be the "unrated" version on Blu-ray
kinda reminded me of everyone when they saw ‘The Woman in Black’
That movie was awful. The 2 parts that scared me were when the crow flew out of the fire place and when "the woman in black" came at him when she was chasing him. And the reason they scared me? Because those 2 parts were meant to. No surprises in that film. Sad, being I had some good expectations for it…
Ah, did you enjoy the score at least? I did, it was haunting and scary. Good horror score. Do you like any of the Phantasm movies, because apparently on my Harddrive I have the complete score for the 1st one.
I’m a fan of Beltrami, and I think he belongs in the horror genre. But the only cue that I can remember (partly due to the fact that it’s the only one on my iPod) is the first cue, "Tea for Three Plus One"
Well you’re in luck, here’s that track in lossless quality 🙂

It’s taken from the alternate ending that never made the final cut.
Wait a Minute, There Was an Alternate Ending to ?Evil Dead? and Ash was in it? (http://www.best-horror-movies.com/news?name=wait-a-minute-there-was-an-alternate-ending-to-evil-dead-and-ash-was-in-it)
your post is invalid.
Well then, there we have it. That explains it. And that’s what I meant by all the trailers and advertising material being put together before the final product is ready
I only found that article a couple hours of ago when it got shared on facebook.
spoilery for me, but not that much.
i’ve seen the original trilogy and not holding too much in the way of new story content for this 2013 release.
WHICH I might add, I heard somewhere that Raimi might want to…
do a feature film where Ash and this chick team up together in a movie.
So is this movie a sequel or a remake or a hybrid of two? :itsamystery:

Also, I was a bit iffy on the plot, if you can pardon the absolutely ridiculous sound of that. It felt like the movie had a central plot but right from the get-go, it felt very "by the numbers" and predictable and eventually the word plot becomes an afterthought in your mind as your assaulted with uneven gory bits which range from realistic to cheesy to gratuitous to stylish (the blood rain was pretty cool) to just unnecessary. They hail it as "the scariest film you will ever witness" (or something to that effect) and I scoff at that assertion. Not once did I ever feel any sense of involvement in the story or suspense of any kind let alone a scare. Jump scares don’t count as they are extremely cheap ways to get a reaction out of an audience. There was a particular moment that pulled me into the soundtrack: when the black woman character gets possessed and has a little bit of fun with the razor to her cheek, the sound of the tearing flesh from off-screen can be heard and it was the only time I felt uneasy but not once was I "scared".
Another huge gripe is that intro. If it had been cut, I may have enjoyed the movie more. That fits in with my "by the numbers" statement.
Lastly, the finale with the Abomination was, for lack of a better word, drawn out and lackluster. How can we the audience expect to believe that a demon that powerful can be that easy to kill? Of course, the film was left wide open for the sequel that we will no doubt see next year so there’s plenty of time for us to see some real baddies and maybe get a bit more explanation as to what the hell went on in part 1 since nothing was really thoroughly or even understandably explained, to me anyway.
I’ll skip the insane suspension of disbelief part of the review because…no, just no.
Rogue Banos’ score would’ve worked better for another film. Most of the time, it’s laying low in the track but every so often it will come to life and I just picture different music playing in the accompanying scene. The score is an excellent one but one I definitely wish had been written and recorded for another film. I am an avid admirer of Banos but his score to this film just didn’t evoke the right mood for me. I mean what the hell was up with that damn chainsaw noise that popped up every so often? If that’s their little nod to the original (after that vicious arm-severing scene) then they can fuck off. Chainsaws play a huge part in the originals so a little arm-severing and a little chainsaw in the soundtrack simply doesn’t cut it. I hate to get profane but that’s just the conclusion of my two-cents to this overhyped and underachieving remake.
Actually, Mia and her brother were the two only characters to have some dimension to them but the others could’ve simply not been there and it wouldn’t have made much of a different movie…apart from the lack of excessive gory deaths that it sold itself on, of course.

It might very well have been. Came across as a chainsaw to me.
Interview: EVIL DEAD composer ROQUE BANOS scares up a score Assignment X (http://www.assignmentx.com/2013/interview-evil-dead-composer-roque-banos-scares-up-a-score/)
AX: Probably the most unique, and hair-raising instrument in the score is an actual siren, which might be a first for a horror score. How did you hit on that idea?
BANOS: It was coming from those nightmares that I got right when I began to score the film. I spent several nights dreaming about demons chasing me and chopping my body apart! I always awoken suddenly by police sirens. One night I was really annoyed by that siren, and thought it might cause the same impression in the movie, so I made the sample and used it in some places. Fede rapidly loved it, and we started spreading it out through the whole movie. I was really a discovery!

Nope~
A Chainsaw has a throttle, a siren does not 😉
Interviews with Roque confirm it is a siren.
Damnit, there goes the fun. Ohh well, I still like to think of it as a chainsaw
they start off slow and can have a very long down time when they finish.
this sirens in this soundtrack sound like they’re never meant to go beyond that slow start up.
I’m a little disappointed Banos didn’t credit them since they are obvious influences…
I still like the score though
Don’t worry Cody… I agree with you 100%!!
This film is almost an insult to the devoted fans of the original, especially one that is marketed as "The most terrifying film you will ever experience". Sony should be sued in a class action for slapping a tagline like that on a waste of celluloid like this. As you impassionately described… there was not a single scare to be found in this movie, and even the jump scares failed to have any impact for me, since they were all dead on cue. The only thing terrifying about this remake is the thought that this could become the modern template for future ‘horror’.
I do agree that the blood-soaked finale was somewhat memorable, but we are talking 30 seconds out of a 91 minute movie, and to say that I had completely lost interest in the movie by that stage is an understatement.
It baffles me that this film has an IMDB rating of 7.0… yet I had to wade through 10 pages of user reviews to find one that gave it more than 4/10… and it really makes me question the validity of the IMDB rating system (could Sony be paying monkeys to log in and post high ratings?).
I do hear that it was worth staying through the end credits for an extra bonus… but honestly, it would take a post-credit screening of Man Of Steel to make up for the shameful mess before it, and I cannot see myself ever sitting through this garbage again.
How does this one compare to this one?
