On December 25, 1950, Lux Radio Theater presented an hour long adaptation of the yet-to-be classic The Wizard of Oz. Though none of the other actors from the film appeared on the broadcast, Judy Garland returned to the role of Dorothy, 11 years after the film’s release, and even mentions her daughter, a four year old Liza Minnelli, at the end of the broadcast.

Here is that radio broadcast, included on every DVD/Blu-Ray release since 2005: OzRadio – Download – 4shared – Justin Hoskie (http://www.4shared.com/rar/7-rIIngN/OzRadio.html)

I included two versions. The first is the full, unedited broadcast from the most recent DVD release. The second is a slightly edited, tracked version I put together myself. I edited out all of the commercial breaks, amplified Glinda’s first line (to make it easier to hear), and edited out a slight audio/editing snafu that happened somewhere down the line. (I believe it was right after "If I Only Had the Nerve" or the foursome reprise of "We’re Off to See the Wizard".) In hindsight, after taking a look at the how long some of the tracks are, I wished I hadn’t split it up quite so much.

It’s a great listen for sure. It’s just so interesting to hear Judy sing "Over the Rainbow" on a radio show without any applause at the end, and to hear well-known lines that got modified before they became part of the public consciousnesses. ("I have a feeling we’re being watched. I have another feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.")

Also included is the cover from the LP release for the broadcast, an album cover made from a 1939 British colorized promotional image, and the script for the show from genericradio.com .

I have to sign up for 4Shared to download it even at slow rate? *sigh*. Thanks, anyway. Appreciate the upload though

Comments like this are starting to annoy me. The reason I use 4Shared is because I have rarely seen them take down things. I can click on any link to any other file host posted on this forum a year ago, and it’ll be down. I can click on a 4Shared link from three years ago, and it’ll still be up.

And, because the "I have to sign up?!" comments and messages are getting annoying also, I have created an account just for downloading my files. PM me for the details.

I apologize, Justin. I didn’t mean to come off as an asshole there. I just don’t like signing up for all these different sites, giving them my email to where I inevitably get spam as a result, when I just wanted a single file and never download from them otherwise.

I do appreciate your upload, man. No disrespect intended.

I know, I know. I apologize to. I’m just getting tired of people messaging and asking if I can upload to something else.
