Hitchcock is the greatest movie maker ever. Thank you for this.

Clever and interesting music, thanks for sharing. I saw this at the Barbican in London in July with Sawhney & the LSO performing live with the film – it was a perfect match.

The 1927 film is noteworthy for:

The director considered this his first true Hitchcock film even though he made two before.

Hitchcock married his assistant on the film soon before it was released.

This is Hitchcock’s first recognizable film cameo appearance and was to become a standard practice for the rest of his films. Hitchcock’s cameo came about as the actor supposed to play the part of the telephone operator failed to turn up and Hitchcock filled the breach.
