I watched Eight-Legged Freaks and then Tremors today so I decided to continue the mayhem with more of my monster movie favorites.

What are your favorite monster movies?

Currently watching Mimic but have plans for Night of the Creeps, John Carpenter’s The Thing, The Host, The Relic, and Splinter.

I really love pretty much all Godzilla and King Kong movies and have seen a bunch of monster movies on SyFy that were cheesy but still like them like Lake Placid, Cerberus, Dragon Fighter, Boa vs Python, some werewolf movies like Dog Soldiers and some others but can’t think of the names right now…

@DragonIIDX: I’ve seen ever Godzilla and King Kong movie. LOVED THEM ALL too. I tend to like the originals over the 1998 Godzilla and 2005 King Kong remakes though as well the Godzilla:Final Wars film from 2004. Still, I liked them too to a lesser degree.

Can’t wait for the Godzilla remake. Seems as if the writer fully intends on bringing the monster back to it’s original destructive monster form.

Mimic was a good one. I liked it.

I’m gonna assume that slashers like Halloween, Friday, Elm Street, etc don’t fit here. So I have noting to really add right now.

@avilslare: Your thread gave me the idea to start the thread I started. PM’ed you, Dragon and few others about it. Feel free to post if you wish.

Other notables for me:
Pitch Black
The Descent movies
The Mist
Slither
The Blob
Cabin in the Woods
From Dusk Till Dawn (these vamps are a helluva lot more monster than most)
Jeepers Creepers movies

Pitch Black was awesome. Enjoyed it.

Didn’t know From Dawn Till Dusk was a vampire movie. Guess I’ll have to check it out.

Gonna add the original Dracula, Frankenstein and Wolfman series.

Cabin in the Woods

I’ve been planning on seeing this for a while now. Interesting that’s in a monster movie thread. Didn’t know there would be a monster in it. 😉

@phenomangel

There is a King Kong vs Godzilla movie though I think Godzilla should have won… I didn’t know Godzilla was getting another remake. I will for sure have to see it then.

I too will be seeing Cabin In The Woods soon enough.

I read about the Godzilla remake last night on IGN.com and read an interview as well as saw a video interview with the writer.

I know there’s a KK vs Godzilla movies. I’ve seen all the KK and Godzilla movies. Love them all. Seen them more than once.

1933 King Kong, 1941 The Wolfman, 1931 Dracula, and the other original Universal Monster Movies. The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and most of the 50’s and 60’s monster movies.

Also, a Godzilla fan, and of other Japanese monsters movies.

My favorite monster film is "Giant Monster Varan" (1958). The score to that film, composed by Akira Ifukube, is phenomenal!
