Oh yeah, the Goat is totally rockin’ a Mega Everdrive now!

Here is the OST for Alien Soldier, recorded from the headphone jack of a Model 1 Genesis with a VA3 revision motherboard. Audio was captured using a Behringer U-Phono UFO202 and Audacity 2.0.1. Aside from some volume optimization, this is raw audio straight from an actual console, no emulation. Each looping track was allowed to play twice, then given a 10-second fade-out. Tracks are named and ordered according to the sound test mode (with all Engrish preserved!).

Note: The VGM files include an extra track listed only as "sound code 84". Does anyone know how to access this in the actual game (assuming it’s even possible to do so)? I currently don’t know of any way to rip this from actual hardware.

Okay I just listened to that sound code 84 thing, and to me it’s exactly �From Objector� except for the beginning (boss’ beat intro). Nothing special to worry about.
I just made a quick check though so you probably should compare them by yourself to be sure if you want (not sure about my grammar here…).

Otherwise, I’ve seen you’ve dared to do some re-rips here and there, so I’ll try my chance. Would you please re-rip Alien Soldier to get its Title Screen music ?
It is not in the BGM test, and nobody thought of recording it on YouTube apparently. I’m just speaking of the 10-20 seconds before the weapon screen appears (evoiding this screen may be the only major problem with this kind of rip I guess), with its cool tune and cold female �Alien Soldier� voice.
I plan on recording myself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0BDs4BMoyQ) some of the voices, such as the ones for Xi-Tiger, Seven Force, or the Game Over voice, but since there’s also music on the title screen I’d like this one to be absolute top quality, thanks to you (not asking to do it immediately of course, I may even be too polite some say…).

Doh! Can’t believe I missed a track. Should have paid more attention to the VGM files, but I was hung up on that Sound Code 84 business. In any case, I’ve ripped it and added a link. I’ll probably add it to the full set and re-upload, but I’ll keep the individual file linked so that no one has to redownload the whole set again just to get the one track.

I got a Mega Everdrive ( http://krikzz.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=55 ) about a week ago, and I love it. It was pricey, but an original Japanese Alien Soldier cart seems to go for nearly the same amount on eBay.

Quite interesting this Mega Everdrive, I hope I could get one of those someday, I’d love to play some of the beta roms like Sonic 2 in my console. It would also come in handy for those region lock games. You rock, man!
