Here is the OST for the Sega CD version of Super Monaco GP, recorded from the line-outs of a Sega CD. As always, the Genesis console is my VA3 Model 1. The SCD version of Super Monaco GP differs from the cartridge version in that digital drum samples are used for the music. Audio was captured using a Behringer U-Phono UFO202 and Audacity 2.0.1. Aside from some volume optimization, this is raw audio straight from an actual console, no emulation. Each looping track was allowed to play twice (sorta three times in a few instances), then given a 10-second fade-out. Tracks are named and ordered according to the sound test mode.

I’m speechless.
I have this one and I think the same happens in SOR, I’m not sure if it happens in Shinobi as well. Of course, it doesn’t happen in Columns since it uses all FM synth and for some reason, the entire GA soundtrack is on CDDA.
Isn’t a weird rating? it’s Mature but allowed for audiences above 13 with parent guidance. How mature is a 13 year-old kid? Some weird concept of maturity had Sega’s V.R.C.

Is this an unreleased game? Cos I don’t remember this game being on the Mega-CD.

The original version of Sega Classics Arcade Collection only had four games, lacking Super Monaco GP. A year later Sega/Mega CD units began shipping with an updated version, which included Super Monaco GP. The two versions are commonly referred to as "4-in-1" and "5-in-1".

I’m speechless.

AFAIK, the music is unchanged in Streets Of Rage and Revenge Of Shinobi. Columns has the CD track for its title music, but is otherwise the same as its cartridge version. The CD Golden Axe soundtrack is from the arcade game. SOR and GA have completely new digital samples used for the voices; they’re much clearer, but kinda cheesy.

Excelent!
Btw, is "Hold In Check" supposedly to have that slow tempo? In the original Sega Genesis game the song it’s faster.

I checked and you’re right, the cartridge version is different. In fact, I noticed timing differences in several tracks. Some are faster, others are slower ("Contentment" is pretty obvious). While I don’t have an original copy of the 5-in-1 game, I burned a disc from the Darkwater-verified rip of the US-NTSC version, and I see no indication that there’s anything wrong with it. So yeah, it appears the two versions are just… different.
