Phideas, you have made my day complete with a cherry on top!
YOU ROCK!
Thank You once again…
Scott
It was a gift from a long lost friend of so many years ago. As written up top, it was neglected probably because 1) Howard Shore’s LOTR score was bowling everyone over at the time and, 2) it is from a God-awful mini series that no one in the right mind could sit through… but, as I often say, the music was lovely.
Loreena McKennit, the singer Enya wishes she could be, is an amazing talent (her last Christmas carol collection is brilliant) and her ‘Mystic’s Dream was also used as the trailer music for the deeply romantic film ‘Possession’. Aeone’s concluding song was not part of the mini-series (who cares?) but she does the vocals throughout.
So glad that folks like this ‘hidden gem’.

It’s a good thing to re-connect with old friends! Indeed she does have a wonderful voice and one I look forward to hearing more from her. The mini series did drag on,(I watched it on the Sci-Fi Channel once) but the music was the high light of the show, Lee Hodridge is diffidently under rated as a Composer, Conductor and Arranger, his wife (Elisa Justice) is as talented as he is.
LOTR did overwhelm everything for several years…a sad fact, but Howard Shore has only scored 80 film’s, it was LOTR that really put his name out front! Mr. Holridge has done 207 films, TV, written, arranged and / or conducted for recording artists such as Helen Reddy, Plcido Domingo, Barbra Streisand, Brian May of Queen, Stevie Wonder, John Denver, Neil Sedaka, The Angels, Daniel Rodriguez, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Peabo Bryson, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston and Jane Olivor…enough said.

I fully agree with Erich’s opinion!
I think that the score is so hypnotic
with deeply romantic themes and divine
voices, very emotionally moving.
In my opinion the key word is harmony.
Just to remind you that Loreena McKennit’s
"The Mystic’s Dream" was also used in James
Horner’s soundtrack for the film "Jade" back in 1995.
Thank you once again, my friend.
You don’t know who James Horner is?

Avatar [2009]

Titanic [1997]
Troy [2004]
The Perfect Storm

Apollo 13
The Amazing Spider-Man [2012]

This is just a list of what I think he best known for. Search James Horner on Google, because he is one of the best.
