This is a downmix of the front left, front right, center and LFE tracks into one stereo WAV file of the complete end titles.
I ran a high-pass filter on it to give it a little more clarity, because just like The Dark Knight’s score and film mix, the quality is a little flat. Anyone who has the sessions from The Dark Knight knows what I mean.
I didn’t downmix the rear channels into this because rears are typically used for reverb and would not sound very clear when completely downmixed to stereo.
I can upload it as a 5.1 DTS WAV though if anyone is interested.
Once the actual Blu-ray disc is in my hands (December 4th is the release date) I can do this again using the DTS HD lossless track itself.
Enjoy.
EDIT: This is from the Blu-ray, 135MB 24-bit stereo WAV file.
There’s not much need for all the uploads from those films out there, but sure. Give me a bit of time to dig out the files. Just moved a few days ago. This was easy since it was just a matter of downloading the movie.
I did not do anything to the "range" of this track at all. I lowered the gain to prevent the entire track from suffering distortion and clipping, which is what would happen when mixing it down to stereo. That had nothing to do with the range at all. In fact if I had not even mentioned that I made the music clearer, no comment would’ve been made. One has nothing to do with the other.
edit: oh, and antovolk’s version doesn’t misses bass – my mistake. It even has too much *imho*.
…
… "No comment would have been made"…
If you want it that way, so be it. 😉
Kuddos.
I use that filter all the time and the way I use it has no effect on the dynamic range of a piece of music. You don’t even know what program I used, or how I did it, or to what degree, so you’re simply basing far too much on my making something slightly clearer. Clearer doesn’t mean quieter or louder.
So if you allow me to put my opinion that way, wich is only my opinion, the other guy’s version sounds to me much more like it should: notably more envelopping (wich has nothing to do with the loudness). And the clarity, antovolk’s version doesn’t miss it at all. As for the effect on dynamic range, only your ears can tell. There’s nothing out there to calculate this properly as far as I know.
Clearer doesn’t mean quieter or louder.
… Who said that ?

You’re a nice guy, you shared neat work already, I know that. Now if you see as a problem that I share my feelings on something you just share for the pleasure, I’ll understand. So, maybe I should just present my apologies and thank you. Please consider the discussion closed.
I have a remux of the movie with DTS-HD MA.
Haven’t gotten around to breaking it down for the end credits though.

Not yet but I can rip it now.
I got the "Bat Cowl" limited edition yesterday.
I got the "Bat Cowl" limited edition yesterday.
:fabulous: I think I’m going to get just the regular tin case if I can around the christmas sales.
I have St. Nic’s family held hostage for good measure 😉
I’ll post as soon as I have something tonight.
The only reason I got that Bat Cowl edition was because I figure if I’m going to (as all of us who love the trilogy will likely do as well) get that "Ultimate" trilogy set when it comes out next fall, why get a regular case version of it now just to get it again in that set, when I can get a unique collectible version instead so it’s not quite the same thing.
EDIT:
DTS-HD ripped and ready for me to convert to WAV.
EDIT 2:
Editing the WAV now. I’m downmixing the same channels (left, right, center, LFE) into a stereo track. I have to lower the gain (as before) so it doesn’t suffer horrible clipping since the file as is would sound like shit…in other words would sound like the regular album. Overblown bass and excessive clipping nonsense. Not if I can help it dammit.
EDIT 3:
First post revised with new link.

MakeMKV works for making a full decrypted, remux of Blu-Ray discs with lossless audio.
It’s free while in Beta.

heh 🙂 just started looking for a good way of doing this yesterday, so thanks…

end credits in 5.1 lossless – i’m in 😀
that would be awesome.
I wouldn’t have any need for that since I don’t need to make duplicates of movies, I just take segments from the audio tracks like in this case, the end credits.

A DTS WAV isn’t 100% lossless but would be indistinguishable from a lossless track anyway, plus it would be the same size as a stereo WAV file.
Also, if it’s not too much trouble, can you do downmixes for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight End Credits, please? You did a really good job on this one, JHFan.
A great suite for a great End !!!

Honestly it would be a waste of time to do that, because the end credit pieces as presented on the complete / recording sessions are pretty much the exact same thing. Same quality, mixing, everything.
The only difference here is because the credits for TDKR wasn’t leaked as part of those sessions, they had to be extracted from a source instead.

Do you have any blu ray rips of the amazing spider man score? if so i’m just curious will you be mixing it with the complete score for an ultimate soundtrack or will you be doing something else with it? thanks for your time 🙂
There’s nothing from the film itself to rip unless you like sound effect-ridden edited stuff, since the complete score for Amazing Spider-Man was indeed the complete score (save for this supposed "High School Hijinks" cue that never made it in the film either). Even the end credits – those are also edited cues from the score. There’s just nothing to add to it. Can’t make it an ultimate since it’s already that!
For segments rather than whole rips.
My current work process is to remux the movie to MKV format and extract the lossless audio using eac3to (with ArcSoft 1.1.0.0) and then store that audio into an .mka file with –split timed where I need it to be cut.
The only thing is, this is a long process that involves working with the whole video.
MKVtoolnix doesn’t allow cutting for just one part of the movie.
It works so that you can split and have the part you need, plus the rest of the movie in separate parts you can delete afterward.
I use eac3to because it provides bit-for-bit extraction, especially for 7.1 audio (using the right version of ArcSoft).
Enjoy! 🙂

Use DVDfab QT to rip an audio copy directly rather than rip the movie and then extract it from that second source. It’ll save you a lot of time and that part of the software carries on working long after the trial has expired!
You can find the whole trilogy in JHFan’s follow-up thread:
