I fondly remember this series from the 80s. It was also xalled "X-Bomber". Very nice Japanese puppet animation and an interesting story too.

No idea what they used for the OST in Japan, but Bliss’ score works nicely. There’s also a great cover version of the theme song by Brian May (of Queen, not the Australian composer).
