I used an app called ‘Tag Stripper’ to remove personal info embedded by iTunes.

MP3 (iTunes conversion at highest quality settings: ~320k)

I’m on a Mac. Neither XLD nor xACT convert M4A to MP3. If someone knows a better, simple way to convert iTunes releases to MP3 on a Mac, I’m all ears.
I did listen to some of the converted tracks, couldn’t hear the difference, they sound great.
