Hi, this is a great problem. If one makes a boo-boo in the subject (topic) of a post, one cannot correct it. This is lamentable.

"Advanced" lets you edit the subject only as a first line in the actual thread, but the topic as it appears in the forum remains unchanged.

Cheers, wimpel69

And I just made another topic boo-boo to prove my point. 😉

Probably so people can’t hide a sensitive thread.

If you feel that it needs correcting, simply pm a mod, and they usually have no problem fixing that for you. In the case of Amaury’s threads, they change the topic just..well, cause they can. 🙂

I quite agree. Why one cannot change the title of one’s own thread is beyond my comprehension. Granted, one should watch one’s typing, but if the option were there to correct a simple error…

Most people, I would imagine, would feel uncomfortable wasting a moderator’s time with something trivial like correcting a spelling mistake…

I don’t want to change other people’s thread titles – just my own!

A vBulletin’s feature should allow the user to edit his/her own thread’s title within a certain amount of time from its creation, if I’m not mistaken, it’s not something one can do whenever he/she feels like doing it, though, just enough minutes to correct typos… then the feature gets "locked" for the user.

It can already be done, so there’s no need for a future. It’s based on each usergroup’s permissions.

The only reason I can think of to NOT allow it would be to prevent OP creating a thread called "WHO LIKES KITTENS?!", waiting for a thousand replies, and then changing the title to "POST IN THIS THREAD IF YOU LOVE SUCKING BIG SWEATY COCKS!" – surely we’re above that kind of puerile humour…

This is exactly the reason SEGA Forum disallows title editing from Registered Users, but in their case, it wouldn’t be a user changing the title to make it something inappropriate, but, rather, a disguising title.

For example, a thread could be titled Pornography and then changed to Bunnies and Rainbows, with the thread still containing pornography inside of it. Of course, users could simply do this from the get go when creating a thread, but still.

I would like to do this to a topic of mine as well… I FINALLY updated a rip after a month yet I feel like the lack of an updated title would not have people stop by and DL….

Anyone know a mod that would change this for me? Thank you!

It isn’t just typos that we should be able to edit, but information that turns out to be wrong (I’m guilty!). Wrong format, wrong composer, etc. I don’t see any danger in doing that if we were allowed to edit titles to only our own posts!
