If you’ve seen Sinister, and then later listened to the Varese soundtrack by Christopher Young, you noticed that the creepiest music from the film was missing. It’s because Young didn’t compose the more eerie and unusual music heard during the footage of the families being killed. Songs from ambient or avant garde bands were used instead.
And here they are.
I took the liberty of re-naming the tracks where appropriate so they correspond with their scenes in the film, but immediately following my track titles are the actual titles of the song.
Artists for each song are also presented in the tags. Some of the tracks are an accurate representation in terms of the bulk of their contents being used in the film. But as far as the "House Painting" track goes, it nears 15 minutes long, and I can safely say most of it wasn’t used for that sequence.
Tracks 1-7 are accounted for and named accordingly. Tracks 8-10 do appear in the film, but I’m afraid I can’t exactly recall when and where.
If someone out there would like to help put the pieces together, I’m sure we would all appreciate it.
Enjoy! This is some creepy shit!

Hopefully we can work on making the complete soundtrack combining Young’s score with this ambient stuff here. Thanks again for the share
Correct. He scored the majority of the traditionally shot portions of the film. But the music used during the snuff footage were the bands listed above. Maybe he was instrumental in finding those bands? Not sure – love the man to death, but he’s kind of an odd ball. He composes all his horror films in a room filled with jack-o-lanterns. That makes me love him more.
But his score (which corresponds with the normally shot scenes and not the family videos) didn’t really do it for me this time around. It was the other music that grabbed by attention. What did you think of the movie?
That part with the lawn mower… Most horror stuff doesn’t "get" me.
That got me. Good.

Ya that definitely caught me off guard. I jumped and gasped at that scene. Also when he has his computer frozen on the image of Mr. Boogie and all of a sudden it turns and looks at him. Creepy. And when he sees the image of himself and the hands pulling him through the attic floor…my theatre definitely gasped at that part as well. But when the little girl popped out of nowhere right next to him, I saw that coming.
The movie creeped me out enough to hold me off until Paranormal Activity 4 tomorrow night 😀
Ha….I like what you named the archive 😉
Thanks for your share, it gets me in the right mood 🙂
Could you share the original Young’s score with us?)

Don’t got it yet. Plus it’s a Varese release anyway, so it can’t be posted here.
I killed this link because it’s already out of date. I am working on one that’s more comprehensive. Will post that when it’s ready. Stay tuned.
Thank you very much!!!! Looking forward to it! 🙂

This is my little help. Finally, I couldn’t find "CineTronic Blood". Some of them are from trusted lossless sources but others I couldn’t verify them, so I decided to remaster the whole (enhance dynamics and recreate missing frequencies; sorry if I did something wrong but i’m not a sound technician). It includes "Enter The Hall Of Ice" by Aghast although it didn’t appear in credits.
So here it is: Tenebrosus (FLAC) (http://depositfiles.com/files/58v0hkrut)
Will post again when it’s up.
I’d love to get this when you’re done.
Me too, of course. Thanks anticipated.

i have not been active on this forum for several years, but i see i’ve missed many, many private message requests for this complete score. i thought demand for this had died down. i was wrong!
i’ve recently come back to ff because i am desperately trying to find the bonus tracks from john carpenter’s live anthology vinyl release.
for more info, see this thread: Thread 223077
for people who still want the complete sinister soundtrack, i will happily trade with you if you can get me this same upload of the carpenter anthology. HAS to be the limited edition with the bonus tracks.
i’ve really beefed up the sinister soundtrack since the last time i was here. it’s now 24 tracks. it’s all yours guys! just get me jc’s l.a.!
