Prior to this, all I had were "recordings" of this game (the DS version–I never even had a Wii rip) of low quality, replete with sound effects. Your rip by contrast is a thing of beauty and now the definitive version on my playlist for both games.
I can’t help but ask, are you planning similar rips for the latest two NSMB games, 2 on 3DS and U on Wii U? That would be awesome, especially with the way you work in medley rips (the Yoshi drums)–I’d love to see what you do with those Gold Ring parts on NSMB2 and the Baby Yoshis singing in NSMBU. 😉
A couple questions, though:
1. What is "The Plains BGM" on NSMB DS? Granted it’s been nearly a year since I last played that game, but I don’t recall that tune playing on any of the stages in story mode. It sounds more like a multiplayer theme, but you already have those accounted for. So where does that one occur in-game?
2. The only track I’ve noticed might be missing–from both games–is the little "Hurry Up!" fanfare that plays when the timer hits 100 seconds left. Of course, given how thorough you’ve been in this rip, I can only surmise this must be intentional. Is that track coded as a sound effect in the game’s data? Would that be why it’s left out?
Again, wonderful rip, and later this weekend/next week, I’ll be downloading some of your other rips as well. 😀
