Celebrating the release of Skyfall, we’re offering you a chance to hear Bond composers Thomas Newman and David Arnold in conversation with Tommy Pearson in front of a live studio audience.

It’s not every evening we see two Hollywood legends spend the evening at the Classic FM studios. Thomas Newman, composer of the soundtrack to the new Bond film, Skyfall, was joined by David Arnold, who wrote the scores for the last five Bond films, for a live interview with movie music expert Tommy Pearson. This special programme was recorded in front of a live studio audience a little earlier this month � and we’re broadcasting it, this Friday at 8pm.

We were also joined live from Los Angeles by prolific author Jon Burlingame, a world authority on James Bond music, who shared his movie soundtrack knowledge with the live studio audience.

With such a massive film franchise, there’s a lot of pressure on soundtrack composers to deliver, but Arnold revealed it’s an honour to be able to use the iconic Bond theme: "It’s a moment of great joy. Whenever we did the Bond theme at a recording session that was the one where everyone wanted to attend, the one where we had the most people and everyone sat on the edge of their seats a little bit more."

I have a question though, you list a track list with times including some non Bond scores but this post is mostly commentary with some music sprinkled in so some people might be confused as I was.

It’s mostly interviews with some music interspersed, which is fine and it’s a worthy show to add to your Bond Collection if you have one, which I do.

But if people are looking solely for music this in not your cup of tea.

I recorded this mainly for the interviews and insights in to how the music for mainly Bond films was composed – if you want just the music you can find it in higher quality elswhere. Sorry, I should have made this clearer.

I opened a free account with ADrive to store files with them just last month. Upload and download speeds have very good for now at least, and the site is simple to use.
