2x SHOSTAKOVICH: The Tale of the Priest and Balda, The Golden Age – DDD @ 320k

The Tale of the Priest and His Worker Balda (Сказка о попе и о работнике его Балде) is a wonderfully witty score Shostakovich
wrote for a Russian animated feature of 1933-34, but the film was never completed. Only a four-minute segment and most of the composer’s
score have survived. The Golden Age is Shostakovich’s most famous and distinguished ballet, also hilariously sarcastic as it tells the tale
of a Russian football (soccer for Americans) team in the West. The Balda disc also includes a short suite from the opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk.
