And my time is a piece of wax fallin’ on a termite…. ( Beck – Loser )
Here’s what Total Film and the insightful Cinetarium had to say about it:
A poor peasant family from Southern Italy a mother and her five sons move to Milan, where the urban jungle lies in wait. Neo-realism at its grittiest vies with grandstanding melodrama in Luchino Viscontis three-hour intimate epic, backed by Nino Rotas heartfelt score.
More than any one performance in the film, the musical score by Rota keeps the tempo and harrowing spectacle of scenes in check. When a scene needs that sadness, it gets there, and when it needs to be a little more happy (ie the snow-shoveling scene) it gets that too. It’s one of his best scores in the same attention to detail that the director gives the story, accentuating what needs to be done and making smaller moments sparkle as well.

And it’s a fantastic movie…that Black and White…instate of diminished the Film give a relief to some of the scene. Alain Delon is a God in this Movie !!!
