LEONARD ROSENMAN – East Of Eden – Rebel Without A Cause -John Adams – London Sinfonietta – FLAC

Excelent CD of suites with music by Leonard Rosenman on the Nonesuch label
London Sinfonietta conducted by John Adams recorded in 1999.

My rip in FLAC with complete scans of the booklet.

Incredible, of the many scores of Mr Rosenman, they only re-record the same ones
over and over.
(That is the James Dean ones)

Thank you! It’s on my wishlist, just haven’t got one. Btw, do you know if the conductor, John Adams, is the composer with the same name or a different person?

Yes, he is actually the famous composer John Adams ! This is an interesting article about a musical event :

FMS FEATURE [LA Phil Offers Concert Works by Film Composers – by Jon Burlingame] (http://www.filmmusicsociety.org/news_events/features/2009/121009_2.html)

And you can read in it this : Replacing him were conductors John Adams, the well-known contemporary composer who was also "creative chair" for the Philharmonic and primary curator of the "West Coast, Left Coast" festival; and Jayce Ogren, recently assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra. (…) During Sunday’s pre-concert talk, conductor John Adams who recorded Rosenman’s East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause suites for Nonesuch in 1995 described the composer as "one of the most important, skilled and knowledgeable of all film composers." Composer William Kraft (whose timpani concerto was also on the program) regaled the crowd with amusing Rosenman anecdotes but wouldn’t vouch for their accuracy because "Lenny told great stories."Adams took the microphone during the concert to extol Rosenman’s virtues, calling him a "sophisticated composer" who helped to bring "psychological depth" to 1950s films like Rebel Without a Cause. He conducted 17 minutes of the score, including five of the six movements he had recorded earlier (omitting, apparently at the last minute, "The Hunt," which was listed in the program).
