Best weapon for cloud heading into the forgotten capital?

i know i know i should know this but i don’t, it seems i lost track of what weapons i had in stock because i’ve geen using the rune blade since the moment i got it, dont really remember. i’ve actually been using everyones double xp weapons an armor. just curious right now the 4 swords i have for him are the buster sword, rune blade, the nail bat, and yoshiyuki.. i have no use for the rune blade at this point i’ve mastered the set materia i have but i need mataria slots. the yoshiyuki is ok but it only has 2 single slots an the nailbat is beast but has 0 slots. i hought i remembered on my last playthrough that i had the Enhance sword at this point but i cant remember where i got it. i have armor with 8 slots. i guess i could equip cloud with that an then just use the nailbat…

I’m pretty sure the Nailbat or Yoshiyuki are probably the strongest swords for Cloud at that point in the game in terms of raw attack power (70 and 56 respectively), but as you’re aware materia support of those weapons leaves much to be desired.

One weapon you haven’t mentioned though is the Murasame. bought at the weapon shop in Wutai after completing the events there with Don Cornero and the Turks, as that has slightly less attack (51) compared to the Yoshiyuki (56), but as a benefit has 5 materia slots (4 connected and 1 unconnected), so if your Cloud is materia reliant that might be a better choice.

Also the Enhanced Sword isn’t gained til disc 2 (on Gaea’s Cliff) so I’m not sure what weapon you’re confusing it with – Butterfly Sword maybe?
