For any Pok�mon fans here I’m going to be uploading what I think is something of a rarity, and that’s the first Pok�mon movie Mewtwo Strikes Back in it’s original form. For those who don’t know what I mean, I think a little history on the film will have to be made so you can understand what this is. When the movie was first released in Japanese theaters back in 1998, it was apparently slightly different from the version that we got since it had a lot more hand drawn animation in specific scenes. Sometime afterward, Japan released a Special Edition of the movie that wasn’t much different except that it had more CGI effects put into it, and it was this version that was used for the English dub that we ended up getting here as Pok�mon: The First Movie. A lot of the changes really involved replacing all of the film’s original hand drawn clouds with more realistic CGI clouds, as well as having the big doors to Mewtwo’s castle remade into CGI. There were also some other slight alterations to the film’s original animation, from what I’ve read about it.
This video that I found some time ago is in fact the full movie as it was first seen in Japanese theaters. Keep in mind that the video quality is a little low since it was probably from a VHS, but considering how rare this supposedly is, I hope that’s understandable. There were also subtitles ingrained into the video when I found it, which are pretty much unreadable since they’re in Japanese. To try and make up for that, I took the liberty of making this a Dual Audio video with both the Japanese and English tracks (which of course would mean having to hear 4Kids’ infamous dubbing errors, but I guess it’s better than having the Japanese audio only and not understanding what anyone says). And the end credits are left out unfortunately, cause they were already cut off on the video.
