It is really a shame that this went out of print so soon. I dimly remember The Musical Heritage Society (which I believe is defunct) offered it as well.

Such clever variations on a theme.

Would you be so kind to send me a link to the "Sherlock Holmes/ Patrick Gowers/ Jeremy Brett Series" soundtrack : )

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh (fan the back of my hand across my upturned brow).

READ my first post. It says:

PM me.

Alas, I shall be magnanimous even to Silly Rabbits who don’t follow directions. (well, I’ve been in the same spot from time to time)

This may seem a silly question but how do you PM on this forum? I’m a new member to this forum but I am familiar with other forums yet I can’t seem to find a place to click to send PMs. I would really this soundtrack.
Many thanks.

You have made only ONE post (it says so, right under your name). There is an arcane rule here about making four or five or six posts: then when you click on someone’s name a box opens (magic!). You will notice ‘private message’ within. Click on that and ask for links or a hand in marriage (I have priddy eyes).

I can’t send you a link until then, too. So just post some nonsense about film music a few more times.

Thank you very much for the clarification. Happy to know that I simply wasn’t blind to something that was obvious. I had no idea about the post minimum rule.
I’ve been searching for this soundtrack for many years. I greatly look forward to finally having it. The Brett series is by far my favorite adaption of Holmes and Gower’s soundtrack only enhances an already fantastic series.

Gowers went on to do further superlative music for the series even though this disc represents only a handful of the early episodes. A great pity further releases did not appear, especially since the series was so popular.

The present UPDATE of Sherlock Holmes is a novelty- but it is only that. Jeremy Brett owned the character right up until the end of his life and thus that series will remain CLASSIC.

You’re right there. Brett remains (for me, at least) the perfect Holmes.
I loved this show, and still watch it often (a damn sight more than I do Rathbone, for example).
I was even lucky enough to see Brett perform Holmes on stage, and, living in Manchester (where the show was filmed) even visited the Baker Street set once.

Saying that, the Cumberbatch version is brilliant (or, when you say the modern update do you mean the Robert Downey things, rather than the wonderful "Sherlock"?)
